Penning stories is in Hazel Statham’s blood. The English writer starting creating tall tales to share with friends and family as a child. As a teen, she started putting those stories on paper. She took a break from chronicling the plights of her Regency-era characters when she started a family and career, but the ideas never stopped coming to her. Now that she’s retired, Statham can pursue her writing dream full-time.
She hit the market just as publishers started cutting – especially in the are of Regency-era fiction. What publishers didn’t realize was the devotion of the genre’s readers – and demand for fresh, new talent. As demand grew, publishers sought out author like Statham. Three years ago, Statham’s two full-length novels, Dominic and My Dearest Friend, were picked up by Wings ePress, which also published this year’s His Shadowed Heart. The author has three more in the works for delighted fans of historical romantic fiction. All of her books recreate Statham’s favorite historical periods, the elegant and romantic Regency and Georgian.
When she’s not reading historical novels, Statham spends timed with her husband, Terry, their grown daughter and grandson, or volunteering with charities that champion animal rights. She currently shares her home with two lovely yellow Labradors named Lucy and Mollie, who are her constant companions. Mollie is a recent addition to the family and at five-months-old is keeping everyone on their toes.
