Ghoulfriends everywhere are clamoring for the novels of paranormal romance author Terri Garey. This Southern gal who craves all things that go “bump-bump” in the night has penned a sharp, witty new series with a protagonist every girl can relate to – and who is envied by her readers for her oh-so-hot doctor boyfriend.
Of course, fans of Garey’s Nicki Styx aren’t so jealous of her semi-stalker, the Devil – yes, Satan himself – who is out to woo Nicki in whatever way he can, including using blackmail.
Garey has created an incredibly funny, unique series that appeals to paranormal romance readers who like to laugh through a character’s foibles. That’s a pretty cool thing for a wife and mother who was a computer geek before she devoted her darkly twisted mind to writing ghoulishly delightful stories that show her love for The Twilight Zone and Dark Shadows.
I first picked up Garey’s Dead Girls Are Easy during a weekend romp with the girls, which, of course, ended at my FAV Border’s in southwest Missouri. The title immediately grabbed, and I knew I had to get the book. A few weeks later, I finally had a chance to read it – and found I could not put it down. I laughed, I groaned, and with each turn of the page, wondered what hell would descend upon Nicki this time. Seriously, I had to ask the author if she gets up each morning thinking, “So, what am I going to do to Nicki today?”
Well, Garey answered, and this week, that answer, along with excerpts from her first two Nicki Styx novels – and a sneak peek of the third – are coming to the blog this week.
