It’s the first big week of debuts for Fox. There’s been some buzz about “K-Ville,” premiering Monday after “Prison Break.” It’s a police drama set in post Katrina New Orleans. Marlin Boulet (Anthony Anderson) is one of the few police officers, who didn’t shirk his duties and head for dryer digs when Katrina hit. Now he’s trying to help keep the peace and rebuild the town.

His new partner Trevor Cobb (Cole Hauser) is a mystery, and the two men don’t always see eye-to-eye. When killers begin terrorizing charity benefits the partners much join forces to find who is behind the shootings.  There are car chases and over the top action sequences, but they are done well. And Cobb and Anderson have a good chemistry.

“We’re out to create entertainment,” says executive producer Jonathan Lisco. “We will use action sequences when we think it’s appropriate, and we’ll also have hard hitting themes that we think are socially relevant. There are some shows where it’s the mental power of the two police officers, not the physical brawn, that help solve the case.”

One cool note about “K-ville” is that the cast and crew work with Habitat for Humanity on their days off.  “I’d never been to New Orleans pre-Katrina and when I saw it for the first time, it was very disheartening to see the city in the state that was in. In Lower Night Ward, Jefferson Paris, and places around like that. They have been devastated or decimated. Still, for it to be that way two years later, it’s a shock. I don’t know how you could not want to help out.”

‘Back to You’ is the new Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton comedy on Fox Wednesday. Grammer plays a news anchor who is forced to return to his humble beginnings when he makes a horrible gaff on a national news broadcast. Heaton portrays his former news anchor, and one-time lover. These two have a lot of animosity and a great deal to work out. It’s formulaic and disappointing, given that it’s from the same folks who did “Frasier.” Though, I will admit it did make me laugh.

There’s also been a lot of buzz about “Kid Nation” on CBS Wednesday. You’ve seen the commercials, so you know what happens. My biggest problem with this is that the kids cry and I can’t stand that. And why would any parent subject their child to such a thing. I watched it, and wasn’t more uncomfortable than entertained. Though I have to admit I was impressed by some of the brilliant children on there.

I’m going to give K-Ville a try.  I’m looking forward to it.

I haven’t really heard anything good about “Back to You” but I have to watch a few episodes.
