So I’m watching the pilot for “Bionic Woman” (Sept. 26, NBC) for the second time and it dawns me: Michelle Ryan is really hot -– in a girl-next-door kind of way. I’ve been in the TV and film biz for a while, and every once in a while I see someone who has that little something extra. Ryan has it.

She is one of several Brits starring in the lead roles of American television shows this season, and she can kick butt. In this new version she plays bartender Jamie Sommers, who is in a horrible car crash with her boyfriend, a man who just happens to be working on a top-secret project where they replace lost limbs with bionic parts.

There’s the obligatory freak out when Jamie wakes up a whole new woman. She soon learns this top-secret technology makes her more than she ever thought she could be. She can kick butt with the best of them.

For self-confessed tomboy Ryan, it’s the role of a lifetime. “I love that I get to jump around and be one of the guy’s says the actress. “I’m training in Krav Maga, trekking up mountains and working with a personal trainer. Some days it’s tough but I’m loving it.”

Another chick to watch this season is Australian Yvonne Strahovski, who plays Sara Walker on “Chuck” (NBC, Sept. 24). She’s a top CIA Agent, who convinces Chuck (Zachary Levi) to work with her. I don’t want to ruin the fun for you, but through a funny set of circumstances Chuck’s brain holds all the government’s secrets.

She also works as a bodyguard protecting the hapless Chuck from the bad guys. “She’s a great character,” says Strahovski. “I mean, she’s very strong. She’s really intelligent. And she’s physically capable. I think some of the best roles for women are on American television. I love the fact that I get to do stunts and fight, and that I get paid for it.”
