How many zombies live in your closet?

image

Wearing clothes that are worn out is a sure way to look like crap. If an item of clothing has lost it’s original color and shape it should be thrown out. Or maybe you just felt like a touch of zombie chic this morning?

Are the undead lurking in your closet? Your worn out, frayed and disintegrating favourite jeans, the shirt that needs new buttons and the t-shirt that has been washed so many times that it’s faded and the print has cracked? Are they joined by an army of gray underwear and relics of shoes? Then it’s time to kick some ass and clean up like Alice in Resident Evil.

Good quality clothes can last for several years with the proper care, but when the seams are fraying and the color is fading it’s time to mend it or get rid of it.
And that shirt that you keep trying on simply to take it off two minutes later because you don’t feel comfortable in it? Yup, throw it out too.
But remember that anything that is clean and in good condition should be donated to charity and not thrown out with the trash.

Make sure you’re wearing nice looking jeans (see previous post for more) or work pants like dickies if you wanna wear your Sandman t-shirt without looking like a dork. Be weary of hoodies and track jackets, the slightest signs of wear will make them look shabby, especially when paired with jeans and a t-shirt.
Remember, it starts with one little bite or skratch and before you know it your entire wardrobe has become infected.

Take a good look at your shoes. Most sneakers can be cleaned with a damp rag, mild soap and a little elbow grease. And if your shoelaces have seen better days, replace them.
If the rubber on your sneakers is cracked and dry, it’s time for a new pair. And mending your Converse with duct tape when they start to fall apart is for crust punks. Looking like a crust punk is good when you don’t want anyone to sit near you on the bus, but it’s not gonna get you a date.

Speaking of dates, what are you trying to tell your potential partner with grey underwear and socks with holes in them? That’s like expecting to get laid on sheets you haven’t changed in a month. Eeek!
If it’s frayed, faded or stained it shouldn’t be in your underwear drawer. Throw out anything that looks questionable and invest in some new underwear. Choose a natural material like cotton that is kinder to your skin than synthetic fabrics.

Wearing the right size bra can make a world of difference both in the office and when fighting for your life. Your breasts will change over time, just like the rest of your body, so get measured to make sure you are wearing the right size. Trust me, the right bra can change your life. Just remember to replace it once in a while. The lifespan of a bra is two to three years, depending on wear.

You don’t need to replace every item you get rid of. It’s better to have a few good quality items than having a a closet full of zombies that you have to fight off every time you’re looking for your favourite outfit.

LOL

What a terrific post! I remember being a bit undead myself in college. What is it with ripped, shredded, faded things that appeals to some 20-somethings? (Was it THAT long ago for me?!?! Yikes!)
