“I’ve been watching the show since its premiere episode, and I love it,” says the actress. “When we are at Comic-Con this year, I put out the word that I’d love to do something with the show, if they ever had anything for me.”
It wasn’t long before the producers of the hit NBC show contacted Bell, who is well known to several of the actors and the writing staff.
“The more I found out about this character, the more I couldn’t wait to play her,” Bell laughs. “She’s far from perfect, and her intentions aren’t always the best. Elle has cool powers, and she’s not afraid to use them.”
In tonight’s episode, “Flight or Fight”, Elle is on the hunt for Peter and she’ll kill anyone who gets in her way.
“She grew up in The Company, unlike the other Heroes. She was born with her powers and had grown up using them, which is very different from the others in the show who are still learning to deal with their powers.
“She likes that she is powerful, and she’s very manipulative. She’ll do whatever it takes to get what she wants.”
While Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) is her initial quest, Elle will be involved with several characters.
“She has ties to Claire and H.R.G.,” says Bell. “She and Claire have an interesting relationship. She’ll also have contact with Suresh.”
Creator Tim Kring says Elle is a character the writers have been talking about for some time.
“We didn’t have Kristen in mind when we were creating the character, but once she joined us, we’ve certainly tailored the character to her talents. When you find the right actor for the role, that is what you do.”
For Bell, playing a bad girl is all good.
“I love that she’s complicated and far from perfect,” Bell snickers. “And I can’t tell you everything, but she definitely has issues. I’m just having a great time.”
