It’s one of the few serial dramas that survived the fall, and I’m thinking about giving the show another chance. Especially after talking with cast members Skeet Ulrich, Ashley Scott, Lennie James and the executive producers. I feel like I’ve really been missing out.
“These bombs have gone off and the world as we know it has changed, but our show is more about the daily lives of these people and how they move forward,” Ulrich, who plays Jake, says. “That doesn’t mean there isn’t some intrigue on the way.” He points at James. “Wait until you see what they have coming up with this guy.”
James plays the mysterious Hawkins and he says that in the beginning he had no idea what was going on with his character. “I didn’t want to know, which turned out to be a really stupid thing. I need to know his motivations now, so that I don’t look like an idiot on down the road. You will discover more about him in these new episodes coming up, and it’s very intriguing.”
The producers say that the season finale will answer many of the questions revolving around the mythology of the show. “You’ll have the answers,” promises executive producer Carol Barbee, “and we’ll move the show to a new level.”
To bring new viewers up-to-date the show is doing a recap on Wednesday, and will run new episodes beginning Feb. 21. That first new episode back is what happened the day before the bombs went off. Oh, and you can also catch old episodes on CBS.com for free.
I had a chance to talk to psychic James Van Praagh (executive producer “The Ghost Whisperer”) about his upcoming event on CBS.com February 14th at 12 p.m. (ET). He’ll take calls and will be able to tap into earth bound spirits who want to talk to you, just by hearing your voice.
“In so many years of doing this I’ve come across people who have lost their loved ones, partners, family and friends. Their true loves of their lives,” says Praagh. “I see Valentine’s Day as a time when we reflect back and take a look at those people who have been very meaningful in our lives. I thought this was a good way to give back to people, so I’m going do to this séance at CBS.com.
“I’ve done two before that have been very successful. The guys who were running the phones had never seen me before. I do a little meditation online, so people can see. Then I hear the caller’s voice and any energy that is around them.
“I remember one last time. It was a boy who came through. I said to the mother, ‘You have his jacket and you’re holding it right now.’ And she says, ‘Yes.’ Then I said, “It isn’t a regular jacket because you cut the sleeves out off.’ She said, ‘Yes, I did.’ The guys behind the window were freaked out,” Praagh laughs.
I don’t have any spirits I need to contact, but I’ll be tuning in. Praagh is just one of those guys who is fun to be around and makes you feel good about life. And really, we can all use a little more of that.
Some other shows you might want to check out…
‘Clatterford’ on BBCAmerica is fun for your Friday nights. It’s a whole new venue but “Absolutely Fabulous” stars Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley will make you laugh. Most of the action takes place within a woman’s club and the characters in this one are beyond fab.
’The State Within’ on BBCAmerica stars Jason Isaacs, Sharon Gless and a large cast of talented actors. Isaacs plays Sir Mark Brydon who becomes embroiled in a major diplomatic incident. You have to pay attention, but this is one thrilling, high-stakes ride.
’Longford’ on HBO was written by Academy Award-nominated writer Peter Morgan (“The Queen,” “The Last King of Scotland”). It’s based on a true story of child killer Myra Hindley (Samantha Morton) and how Lord Longford (Jim Broadbent) worked to prove that she could be rehabilitated. “At its heart,” Morgan says of the film, “It’s about forgiveness. It might seem black and white that this woman in no way deserves a chance, but when you look at the facts and see that she had no physical part in the murders. It makes you wonder.”
’LOST’ but not least (I couldn’t help myself) as promised the writers have taken the show back to the beach. This week Hurley (Jorge Garcia) asks Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) to help him get Desmond (Henry Ian Cusak) to spill the beans about what is really going on with the island. You’ll also get to see a big-time flash back for Desmond.

Lost is awesome again! I can’t wait for this weeks episode.
