I dunno if y’all saw yesterday’s big news, but I have to admit I caught this and chuckled a bit.
Paramount Pictures and actor Tom Cruise have called an end to their 14-year production deal on Wednesday as the chairman of the studio's parent company took a parting shot at the movie star's off-screen behavior.



"As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal," Viacom Inc. Chairman Sumner Redstone told the Wall Street Journal in an interview posted online. "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."


Paula Wagner, the actor's longtime partner in his movie company, Cruise/Wagner Productions, struck back at Redstone, calling his comments about the three-time Oscar nominee "offensive" and "undignified."



"Whatever remarks Mr. Redstone would make about Tom Cruise personally or as an actor have no bearing on what this business issue is," she told Reuters. "There must be another agenda that the studio has in mind to take one of their greatest assets and malign him this way."


Now I personally love how Cruise’s partner calls the remarks “undignified”. Oh really sweet cheeks? And it was DIGNIFIED for Tom to be hopping on couches? Dragging Katie out on every stage and every appearance he made to publicly fawn on her?



Was it dignified for him to publicly attack Brooke Shields and the entire psychiatric profession? To go off on the very real need for anti-depressant drugs and Ritalin? Is THAT what passes for class these days?



Now there are all kinds of speculation as to why Redstone REALLY did this. But my question is, does he really need more of a reason than the buffoon that is Cruise? I for one am proud of the stand these production companies are taking against stars who think they are too damn good for regular functioning society. From the network dropping Gibson’s mini series to this… hey I think it is about damn time.



Hopefully this will send the message that it does not matter how famous you are, when you go and treat parts of society like crap and do so publicly.. there ARE consequences.



Of course I still want Gibson to apologize to women and Cruise to shut the hell up about women until he grows his own vagina and births a child of his own, tears his insides up and then see how HE feels. Jerkoff.



In the meantime this has to wipe at least some of that smug smirk off his stupid face.
