Trying to Re-read Watchmen

With all the noise the Watchmen movie is making I thought I’d take some time and re-read my copy of the book. It turned out to be a lot more difficult than I originally planned.

I hope everyone is just as excited as I am in regards to the release of the Watchmen movie. For the longest time, I heard that this would be one great movie if it ever got made, and this is one story that shouldn’t be made into a movie. All this excitement has got me motivated to re-read Watchmen. After six months of putting it off, I only have four issues left to finish Watchmen.
The Watchmen movie has been buzzing all over the internet for the past few months. I looked at my copy of Watchmen on the shelf and passed it by. A couple of months later, I still just passed it by. Pictures from the movie were being released, the trailer was coming out soon, and I walked past my copy on the shelf. I had no motivation.

Last fall someone asked me if they can borrow my copy of Watchmen. I went to my shelf and picked it up and handed it off. Later, someone else asked me for my copy and I told them it was loaned out. Then it his me, “I want to re-read this book.” I came to the realization that I loaned out my only copy and now had to wait. December finally rolled around and I had it in my hands. What did I do? I set it down on my night stand and ignored it until January. Sheesh.

January is now over and I’m still only at issue seven of this series. It took me a whole month to read seven issues. I look back at all the times I kept walking past this book and I kick myself. If I wanted to read this book before the movie came out, I could have. I had plenty of opportunities. Now thanks to my bungling reading schedule, I’ll be lucky to squeeze out an issue in two weeks. It’s up to me now, it’s a race against me and that movie. One of us has to win and it’s not going to be that movie. This book is going back on the shelf; because I’m going to finish reading it.

It was probably a few weeks ago, but yeah I finished it. I’m planning to see the movie this weekend, if the lines aren’t to long. fingers crossed.
