Comic Book Podcasts love monopolies

Some of the comic book podcasts have teamed up to theme up!  Diamond Comics are a mysterious lot and it’s up to the podcasters to educate us by interviewing retailers near them.

5/28 Pipeline Comic Book Podcast gives his top 15 comics out this week including The Starman Omnibus and other pricy items.

5/28 Dollar Bin chats with Richard of Richard’s Comics and Collectibles in SC about crossovers and commerce.

5/28, 6/2 Comic Book Page‘s Mayo Report shows that Brand New Day hasn’t done anything to increase the overall sales of Spider-man comic titles since 2003.  All the events, variants, creative teams, and other marketing bs isn’t working. John and Bob talk about their likes and dislike from the comics they bought two weeks ago.

5/28, 6/2 Comic Book Noise‘s Marvel Noise breaks down how Diamond forms its monopolistic stranglehold on retailers.  Turns out its all Marvel’s fault. Then Derek tackles the cottage industry of fandom and comic book podcasts.  Plus reminds us that Final Crisis is doing what Countdown did to continuity and he’s not falling for it.

5/29 Comic Tube reviews Supernatural, the show and the comic book.

5/29 11 O’Clock Comics drools over a Taschen book “for men” (meaning nude girls in violent situations).  Plus they give props to Matthew Sturges.

5/29 Collected Comics Library shows his brass ones by having his show inside an LCS (Detroit Comics) while plugging his dot-com sponsor.  Also, to Brian.  Hey kid, you gotta get along with the cons (even the sucky ones).  Feel free to talk shit about the competition though.

5/29 Comic Book Savant will give you ADHD if you listen to this podcast.  Talks about Y: The Last Man, the connection between 7 Soldiers and Final Crisis, and skunk bud.

5/30, 6/2 Raging Bullets realizes that two hours just isn’t enough time for one show (whatever, you get 30 minutes, make it count).  Kendra reports from ECCC’s DC Nation Panel to report JMS’ Brave and the Bold upcoming team-ups.  Luthor and Swamp Thing!?  Then its a book club type roundtable for a LOSH story nobody’s cared about since the 80’s.

6/1 Webcomics Weekly bravely addresses race and gender in webcomics and how to segway into awkward silence.

6/2 Comic Book Queers try to parse Final Crisis.  One of Eric’s prison pen-pals whacked Steve, that’s why he wasn’t there.

6/3 About Heroes tries to grasp Grant Morrison.  Silly mortals! Nit picking over John Cassaday’s art too.  Blasphemers!  Also, just women don’t get along.  Misogynists!

Housekeeping: It’s been pointed out that some podcasts are not getting reviewed that came out before other podcasts.  All I can say is that I listen to them as I listen to them.  I also use the feeds publish date as it is displayed in iTunes, so please be sure the dates are correct.

I’m digging Comic Book Noise right now.  Some of the other shows on that feed however…

Your Pal Eric

and I’m sure the only reason you’re saying that is that it would be unethical to say comic book queers because we all think you’re so pretty…

Oh, Eric.  You’re always on my heavy rotation.
