Occasional Superherione gives us the best hits.
Fans Bash Siegel Superman Ruling:It has never occurred to me that there might actually be comic fans who are against creator's rights. But, the reaction by a selection of fans on the Blog@Newsarama boards regarding the recent Superman copyright ruling educated me otherwise. Their basic opinions, to sum up:
1) The Siegels are "greedy"
2) It was Siegel & Schuster's own fault for losing the rights
3) Time Warner is being victimized
4) The Siegels are "stealing" Superman(Via Occasional Superheroine)
Then they immediately went back to torrenting New Frontier.

If Siegel and Shuster knew what they were giving up when they made their deals, who’s really at fault. Sounds like an issue of, “Our relatives’ creation is making you guys Billions, and we want a cut, even they’re we’re not legally entitled to it.” It’s not like DC know all long how big Superman would be, and deliberately swindled the creators out of royalties.
I definitely believe in creator rights, but this whole “retroactive reperations” thing, that I can’t really get behind. Just because you were too stupid to realize how important creator’s rights were at the time, doesn’t mean you have to right to hit up the company you willingly sold your creation to for money.

I think Siegel and Shuster were victims of the system when they sold the rights. They should be compensated. Now their offspring, screw them. They didn’t do squat. Times are different now. People are more business savvy and have a better idea of what they are getting into.

I mean, I guess I can be sympathetic to the creators themselves, but not for their relatives and descendents. If they’re smart, they’ll just take the money and keep their mouths shut. Last thing we need is them trying to control how Superman and all related projects (film, television, FILM) are handled. Let the pros do what they’ve been doing for seventy years, kick back and let the checks come in. Don’t get all drunk with power like, “WE CONTROL SUPERMAN, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!” Perhaps that was bit over-the-top, but you get my point.
