Guillermo del Toro eyes Doctor Strange
Time to put your Hobbit puns away. Guillermo del Toro is building is his dream team to make the Sorcerer Supreme on the silver screen.
“I talked with Neil Gaiman [about writing it],” he tells Empire. “I said, that’s an interesting character because you can definitely make him more in the pulpy occult detective/magician mould and formula than was done in the Weird Tales, for example… the idea of a character that really dabbles in the occult in a way that’s not X-Filey, where the supernatural is taken for granted. That’s interesting… But I wouldn’t use the suit!”
Of course this is awesome news. Nobody seems to be able to keep Doctor Strange in print for very long. And even though seeing this movie made might happen after Hobbit’s 2012 due date, the rise in popularity by this news might just bring back Doctor Deus Ex Awesomo in his own regular series.
James Sime of Isotope Comics just twitted/microblogged/tinyurled/whatever the news. Sometimes it pays to follow total strangers on Twitter.
