Colleen Doran's blog tells us of Scribd's policy change regarding uploading books to their website. To prevent piracy, only those books that have been authorized in advance by the copyright holder will be allowed to uploaded on their site.
And considering I've never heard on Scribd until today, I'll be going there now.
But wait! Wowio is another site that offers free book downloads as well. You can find Colleen's work in Hellraiser there for you download enjoyment.
Colleen make an important point about this type of piracy as well. "It's so not cool. Besides, since portions of my income go to charity, every time you download my work illegally, a kitten doesn't get fed and it dies. You murderer."
However, Scribd has now changed its policy about uploading books, and will now ONLY allow books to be uploaded IF the books are authorized by the copyright holder in advance.
...
And yes, there will be more of my work at Wowio very soon. I don’t get royalties on either Hellraiser or Swashbucklers (I have donated my Swashbucklers royalties to Mantlo), but I will be publishing more work for my own benefit in about a month. Also, a 10 % of the income I get will be divided between the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and Unscrewed.
