Dog David Lanham

SDCC 08 buyers guide

SDCC attendees already dropped a chunk of change just to be a part of a fire marshall’s worst nightmare.  This year is sure to be a major spending spree for the con goers.  Only one problem, now airlines are charging extra for luggage.

Folks will need to pick their items wisely to maximize their shopping experience.  We can’t have another Lost Girls debut.  Sure, it was pretty porn, but it was heavy too!  Plus, retail stores picked up a few months later anyway.

Read your shopping list after the jump.

Pixu booth #2729
Why buy?  Not offered through Diamond (so far) and Becky Cloonan has a sweet sketchbook available too.

Flight 5 booth #1228
Why buy?  You’ll be able to get it your LCS soon enough, true, but what other book is there to hold all those signatures from so many talented artists?

Viper Comics booth #1903
Why buy?  Don’t.  Viper is giving out free comics at their booth.  But don’t let that stop you from supporting artists like Wes Molebash by getting his book You’ll Have That.

Darwyn Cooke signature cards booths #2207, #705-1709/1804-1808 block
Why buy? Cooke has an upcoming project (2009) and these original illustration cards explain it all, but only at SDCC.

How to Make Webcomics booth #2729
Why Buy?  They’re already sold out, but the Image booth and HTMW authors will have copies available.  Ask them to sign it to “thanks for all the unsharking.”

Zog booth #4637
Why Buy?  Because David Lanham is part of Iconfactory and your iPhone would be jack squat without them, thats why!  Plus, his art is a-maz-ing.  Someone get this for me.

Jim Mahood Artist Alley EE-05
Why buy? You like Colt 45, don’t cha? Jim’s bringing with him t-shirts, advanced issues of Mixtape #2, and original artwork.  No beer though.

Action Figures
Why Buy?  Whether it’s the Hasbro booth, Sideshow, the folks with all the plastic bobble heads, you know most of these toys will be available later on through Diamond, but there is usually some bad-ass variant at the show.  The variants make great reminders that you survived another year of mayhem.
