Let’s give this a shot, shall we…

Hello. Allow me to introduce myself here on the boards in a more appropriate—less assuming—way. My name is Alex Hamby and I am an aspiring comics creator. Over the past few years I have worked with Marvel to develop a Silver Sable project for their failed Epic line (three/four years ago) and have written for Viper Comics, under the guidance of Josh Howard, doing two short stories for Dead@17: Rough Cuts 1 & 2 as well as the limited series Dead@17: Protectorate with Ben and Marlena Hall.

This year will, if all goes right, see the premiere of my next project, a story I’ve been trying to write for nearly 13 years. It will be published as a web comic starting in May. Personally, I can’t wait for you to read it as it’s something I’ve felt very strongly about for a very long time.

All that said, I am writing this post because I am curious to hear from someone, anyone, out there. I’ve not done this in a while, the whole publishing thing, and I’ve surely not done it with a comic and the internet. So, I am curious about two things: 1) your thoughts on how things should be done and 2) your thoughts on what you’d like me to cover in The Process. Since the main purpose of The Process is to deal with the truths of creating a webcomic from the ground up both your input and questions of subject matter will both allow me to learn AND educate.

But I can’t do this without you. Let’s get to talking about the world of comics creation for the web. What do you like that’s being done? Dislike? Think should be done? Wonder how it’s done? Whatever. When it comes to this forum it’s all about you guys.

Alex

There is much more to come every two weeks… promise. But for now, I must get to drawing.

Some of you may be surprised to see Alex on Pop Syndicate. I was thrilled and delighted when Alex asked if we would be the home to his new column. I couldn’t be happier that Alex is on Pop Syn and just want to extend a big, “Welcome Aboard!” It’s good to have you.
