The soundtrack from Black Snake Moan is chuck full of some lovely grit. Like a gritty swamp soup, or something. Or, if you can find some of the old versions of Stack-o-Lee (of which Samuel L Jackson actually does a good job of in the film).
No harmonica, but I really like the Down in Mexico song that that hooker with the bee stung lips dances to in Death Proof. That is the Coasters.
Ahhh.. yes… Vanessa Ferlito, god bless her.. Down in Mexico, by The Coasters is a great song. It’s funny with Q.T’s soundtracks; I always initially think they’re more “sizzle” than “steak” until I listen multiple times and come to realize how good they are top to bottom…
