I need some gritty blues with slide guitar and harmonica.

Also, maybe some NON-CHEESY rock&roll;with saxaphone.

All I need are artist and song names… but hey if you want to send me files go right ahead (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

The soundtrack from Black Snake Moan is chuck full of some lovely grit. Like a gritty swamp soup, or something. Or, if you can find some of the old versions of Stack-o-Lee (of which Samuel L Jackson actually does a good job of in the film).

No harmonica, but I really like the Down in Mexico song that that hooker with the bee stung lips dances to in Death Proof. That is the Coasters.

Ahhh.. yes… Vanessa Ferlito, god bless her.. Down in Mexico, by The Coasters is a great song. It’s funny with Q.T’s soundtracks; I always initially think they’re more “sizzle” than “steak” until I listen multiple times and come to realize how good they are top to bottom…

I actually prefer Q.T’s soundtracks over his film, generally. By far.
Death Proof was good, if I viewed it as two separate movies. The first big crash scene was, I feel, penultimate.  But I really do like the music.

I was bashing Miike apologists in another thread, but have to admit I’m a major Q.T apologist… That first crash scene was pretty darn good, and I guess was a little penultimate.. I almost like to think of the 2 as being in reverse chronological order…

A lot of people are saying that and I do admit it would make things make a lot more sense but I dunno..

I don’t think that is the case; someone once pointed out a continuity problem that shoots down the whole reverse chronological order thing, but I like to think that’s the case, as it does make a better movie that way..
