Holy mothersmurfing mother of smurf.

I’ve just watched A L’Interieur, the first film by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (who are supposed to be directing the remake of Hellraiser although I believe they just got replaced as writers).

Now this is a messed up film and I mean that in a really good way.  Simple story, beautifully filmed, some great tense moments and just so amazingly gory you won’t believe it.  I really, really dug this film and it will have you saying ‘no, they can’t do that’ only for them to do that and then go even further over the line of good taste and decency.  There are only a couple of brief dodgy cgi shots, most of it is just good old physical effects and about 600 gallons of fake blood.

It’s just come out on DVD over here and I’d send you all copies but it’s in region two and in French.  I believe that Dimension are releasing it straight to DVD in the States on the 15 April and I highly recommend you get a copy.

Here’s a review that is much better than me just swearing loudly: http://www.cinematical.com/2007/09/13/tiff-review-a-linterieur-inside/

and here’s a trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ajq9VwfU_Ss  The film does not feature loads of jump cuts as in the trailer.

And for the little bit of trivia, Bustillio, who also wrote the script, used to be a critic in a French horror mag.

Is it available on DVD in the US? I didn’t find it during my Netflix search today.

It’s going to be released sometime in March, I believe. The fourth, if I’m not mistaken.

I just saw this and I loved it as well.  It had a few moments of ‘stupid’ but overall it was just a rollercoaster of gory cat and mouse.  I loved the villianess in this and found her to be really creepy.  The main girl was ok, but her character was kind of annoying.  But me not liking her lead to my favorite scene when she meets up with her mother.  I was giddy with schadenfreude.

Worth seeing for any gore hound.  Especially the last act.  Just DO NOT rent from blockbuster because they edit out 7 minutes of fun.  This movie needs to be seen whole.

I think Warthogs are Beautiful, but people think I’m ugly.  So I guess that makes me stupid.
