How come when I post in the Home page, say in the “Top 10 Movies of the 90’s” that post isn’t included in my forum post count? I understand they must be separate, but why is that?

I can’t seem to get the smilies to work or I can’t see them. What could be the problem?

Cheers.

Good questions.

The forum is an extension of the site.  Its operations, while tied to certain aspects of operation are not fully integrated.  The forum count is pulled from a different table than the one use in comments.  If you look at your profile, you will see that comments and posts are tallies separately.

As to your second question: the emoticons are disabled.  I personally, do not like them.  However, our contributors would occasionally run into problems with their text getting converted when they were not trying to use the emoticon notation intentionally.  In the end, it was better for them to simply disable the feature.

No emoticons?

Oh the horror, the horror.

:(

Ah well.

Thanks for answering my questions, Chris. :)

Ok, here’s another question for the site. There’s no “forum” solely dedicated to television. I think there should be, especially considering it’s one of the categories on the main page. And, while I can’t speak for all of us, tv reviewers like me usually have more to say than we can post as comments on a review page.  Just a thought… (i withheld an emoticon there, btw).

Huh?  I’m guessing the big TV section isn’t big enough? There is even a section for “Other Shows”.  What did you have in mind?

Ha. well now I feel like an idiot…obviously I was just looking at the “main forum” section and only scrolling down part of the way.

;)  Oh yeah…we’ve got a section for movies, comics, podcasts and toys.
