Once you read the book, you’ll really hate the movie.  I Am Legend is really a remake of The Omega Man instead of an adaptation of the story.  I’m still waiting for someone to do a movie based on I Am Legend.

You can’t keep making statements that make me shake my fist at you for bad taste and then succinctly write my thoughts on the subject. Well, I did write basically the same thing about the movie on the NotLP board, but your statement is nice and tight.

I did break down and watch it this week and although I liked Will Smith for the most part I can’t understand the choices for the rest of the movie. I thought I would be enraged after watching it, but seeing how amateurish the script was I can only shake my head and think the crew were just mislead children. I’m more upset with the marketers of the film trying to sell us on the idea that it isn’t an Omega Man remake.

I think I will rent Shrooms, which looks terrible, in hopes of scrubbing my brain of I Am Turd.

Inside every horror fan there is a huge area for crap.  The really crappy films you love, I’ll probably hate and vice versa.  We all grew up on different stuff.  I didn’t grow up watching Romero zombie films so I don’t really like his movies.  I did enjoy shock films like Truth or Dare and Faces of Death.  Because of that, the more exploitive films of today, I seek out.

Shrooms isn’t greatness but it does have it’s moment.  It’s another that fits into the either you’ll enjoy it or hate it.  I enjoyed the quirkiness of the film but figured it out pretty quickly.  Within the first 20 minutes, you will know that it will end either one of two ways.

The Shrooms trailer makes me think it ends as a bad trip or supernatural shenanigans (sp).

Did you not like Mulberry St. because of it’s similarity to Night of the Living Dead? There’s a decent article about the film in the latest Rue Morgue. I’m reading Cold in July and loving it. I look forward to what Jim Mickle can do with it.

The Faces of Death series was fun. I kind of want to see them again despite their obvious badness.

If only it was like Night of the Living Dead, then it would have been worth watching.  The first half was slow and tedious and the second half was incredible predicable.  I think the director has talent, there are good moments in Mulberry St but over all, it just wasn’t that good.  I still give it a 3/5.  It’s worth watching once but I don’t think I could see it again.

I think the overall theme of the second batch of 8 Films to Die for is cliches.  Almost all of the films played on tired horror cliches too much and honestly if the weren’t part of the 8 Films gimmick, would be more harshly judged.

I’ve tried every day this week to rent Shrooms, but I think the drug aspect has too many people interested. Lousy Big Box for not stocking quality trash.
