I’m not a huge fan of George Romero and I found the original Day of the Dead dull but hell, the remake is just horrible.  I can’t believe this film was made.  I can’t even believe how bad this movie.  Romero should go to director Steve Minor’s house and beat the shit out of him with a lead pipe.

This shit has been in the works for years. I thought it was awful when it was announced, I thought it was awful when it came out that the “bub” zombie would be a vegetarian, and I thought it was awful when I saw the trailer. Over the years it’s just gotten staler and staler and now it’s finally out.

I was going to ask why we can’t get past this shit but I know why it is. It’s very cheap to remake a property that a studio already owns because all they have to pay for is the process from the screenplay on. they’re cheap to make because they can pack them with struggling 4th rate “WB” level actors (who there is NO shortage of) and just crank these things out all day.

All you really have to do is look at the cover art to know it’s gonna be terrible.

I just reviewed this over on my show (http://www.mailorderzombie.com), and you know, in all honesty, it wasn’t as bas as it could have been.  By no means was it amazing.  By no means was it good.  Mena Suvari has no business playing any sort of military-type, and Ving Rhames was flat as hell (but, as I said in my review, he was bad-ass flat, so in that regard, his performance worked on that level).

But I liked it better than Fido (which I’ll address in Episode 10 of my show).  :/

I can’t agree with you at all on that.  Fido is so much better than this turd.

Right on Brother!  Mena Suvari as a member of the military?  This is outrageous and absurd.  I hated this movie but not as much as I hated the remake of April Fool’s Day.  Someone shoot me in the head for watching this crap.

You know, as absurd as it sounds to say this, I’d rather watch Day of the Dead 2008again than Fido.

The whole time Suvari was on screen, I just couldn’t take her seriously.  I just kept thinking to myself, “Yeah, I’ve seen her boobs.”

I liked your review Brother D, but I’m still pretty wary about this whole thing.  Time will tell, I guess.

I want to see Crispin Glover’s ‘What is It?’. Everybody in it has Down Syndrome and I think the idea of the movie completely flips the bird to standard US films.

Yes, at it’s core What is It? sounds exploitative, but not having seen it I can’t say for certain.

where did that come from DZ? I want to see What Is It too, though. Down Syndrome related snail death on film is at least worth a look.

Points to D-Syndrome and the idea of a vegetarian zombie. Get it now?

DZ, I don’t think it’s nessesarily exploitative. I think it’s just Crispin Glover being his effed up self. I’ve heard about this film for years. Apparently Crispin hauls the film around with him to festivals or exhibits it himself or something. They should definitely give it a north-american wide theatre release. I mean at least for yucks if nothing else.
