Our first joint segment is featured in our show this week. I figured I would plug it here since someone who shall remain nameless forgot to plug it in their show. Either way we rage on the subject of Troma and what are the good things they have done for Horror and Underground cinema and the Bad things. Take listen and feel free to chime in on the subject. We will be teaming up for more segments like this in the future. good job w/ the friendly debate guys; I have to say that I’m in the same camp as the C.D boys, but you guys at OTC made a damn compelling argument that I didn’t think was possible going into it.. I look forward to more discussion from this roundtable in the future. Hopefully it’ll be a regular thing.
I agree with Willy, great debate guys….I look forward to more debates in the future. I don’t know where I stand on the Troma issue but I do agree with the fact that Troma was perfect for a 13 to 15 year old kid renting from the Mom and Pop video store down the street. My friends and my brother we would go to the video store and just rent the most smurfin up titles we could find and Troma had quite a few of those nights sealed up. I loved Toxic Avenger and Class of Nuke’em High films, these films are great for what they are, they are not deep but not all cinema is deep. Watching those films now….not really the same but the memories are great.
I gotta a question for you guys, there was a film in the 80’s about this toxic cola called Buzz cola I think, I cant remember the title for the life of me. Seems like there was surfers in it or something? I cant remember exactly and everybody on this forum knows a lot about films so maybe one of you guys remember this film? Maybe I’m crazy or something but all I can remember is the cola was toxic…..I think…..memory can get foggy sometimes….
Glad eveyone seemed to enjoy the debate, it was a lot of fun and we will def be doing more. I think Surf 2 also had the two dads or detectives (saw it when I was a kid) end up half-way sex-changed by the nerd seeking revenge in the end. Now, I too, need to seek this nostalgic gem.

Maybe you should have a debate which podcast has the sexier hosts/better lovers? Yes. I know you guys would win-but it would be fun listening to the Outside the Cinema guys trying to compete.

This is all true except for the alpha male part. I’m hung like a two-liter, automatically making me the alpha male because as we all know “he who swings the most lumber, leads the pack” and as for the lover part I’ll concede that to smooth talkin, slick willy also because I’m not sure many ladies would appreciate the mangling they’d receive from “The Devastator”

I may have to blow the dust off the old VCR for this one if I can get a hold of it, it is true DZ this is a nostalgic gem, was there a Surf 1? I can only remeber a Surf II now as it was on cable many a late night when my brother and I would sneak up to watch the movie channels we were not allowed to watch….now I only have to do that with porn while my wife sleeps as she is not a fan.
