Watched Robowar over the weekend.  Ever seen Predator?  Good, then you know 80% of the plot:  Muscle-bound Reb Brown leads a pack of elite soldiers into the jungle on a secret mission.  Accompanying them is “the man,” eg the guy that works for “The Man.”  His job is to neutralize a killer robot that has gone haywire, and he is to use the elite group of soldiers, unbeknownst, to bring the robot in.  The performances are worthy of Oscars (the Sesame St. kind) for lumbering through the hooked-on-phonics screenplay.  Mattei, who could have edited this one himself, is content w/ blowing something up as soon as the plot gets boring, eg every 10-15 mins.  Lots of machine-gun action, the sole female character’s name is “Virgin,” and a trademark, laughable plot==perfect Mattei movie.

Hans et.al: is Violence in a women’s prison worth buying? I’m a pretty big fan of WIP films(not a completist though). Would it be a worthy addition to my collection?

Yes, if your a fan.  If you can get the Shriek Show disc pretty cheap, then pick it up.  It certainly is sleazy and a lot of fun.  But of course, it’s not one for the ages.  I think the better film is Emanuelle in Prison, which has many of the same actors and sets, etc., but has Tinti and Gemser in better roles and the fun factor is v. high on this one.  Vipco, the Brit label, put out a combo of the two, which I think is OOP, but you should be able to get the single disc release of Emanuelle in Prison from Vipco.  This one has a v. high re-watchability factor to it.  Check Xploited for this one (an online seller I highly recommend).

Scratch that last post Wily.  It seems as if these two might be coming to R1 in May in a set.
