Hey guys, great show. Amy and Freddy watched One Eye at the previous HHW in Nov. Amy was not pleased! Have you checked out our episode this week? Is it weird that NOTLP and CD seems to mirror each other once and a while! We reviewed Gutterballs which was also a tail of female revenge.
Also, Big Willy can tune into NOTLP if he wants Amy’s book corner and I think your Austrailian is like our Phlegm. Enjoy the abuse that is heaped upon you.
great show guys, 2 of my favorite cult films. I first saw thriller last year and it is now one of my favoirte cult films. Lady snowblood is great and F13 I agree that QT ripped it off for Kill Bill, But I still love Kill Bill, for me its just another take on the story. Now I agree with you about Roth the guy doesnt have an original bone in his body. He just cannot come up with anything origina;. I hated cabin fever, but i enjoyed the hostel films for what they were diversions.
Great show guys! I LOVE Meiko Kaji! She is one of my all time favorite actresses. She drips punk cool (before punk was cool). While I think Lady Snowblood films are better made-the Female Prisoner #701 Scorpion series is my favorite.
Further the connection to Kill Bill. QT used two songs from Meiko Kaji (she was also a singer) on the Kill Bill Soundtrack.
Now. If I can only find the Meiko Kaji doll my life will be complete.
As for Thriller/One Eye. I did not like it very much. It was OK. But as both you pointed out. It was very illogical and sloppy at times. Nothing like the poetry of Lady Snowblood.
I love both these pics. Great show. In my book, Christina Lindberg is a goddess. Although Thriller looks like someone making a movie from a book on how to make a movie, Lindberg is awesome. Great flicks. Btw, I’ve seen the second Lady Snowblood, and it’s pretty good but not quite the level of the first. I have the Animego VHS. Late.
I’m surprised you didn’t go with Lady Vengeance. Good modern vengeance film.
If you like Lady Vengeance-try to find another Korean film that came out the same time and has a similar story called “Princess Aurora”. I like Lady Vengeance, but Princess Aurora really broke my heart. It does not have the crazy over the top style that Lady Vengeance has-but it has a more sad heart that Lady Vengeance does not have.
