As Summer approaches, we’re going to be inundated with box office predictions by people who claim to know better.  Phooey!  We can do this shit too and that’s exactly what I plan to do.  So yeah, let’s start with this weekend (4/25/08).

Here’s what I came up with…

1. Baby Mama
2. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
3. Forbidden Kingdom
4. Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay
5. 21

I won’t say how I arrived at this list, but I feel it’s pretty solid.

Looks like Baby Mama is going to take the top spot, so at least I got that right. Everything else is moderately close as of right now, with Harold and Kumar shockingly in 2nd place and Sarah Marshall hanging tough in 3rd.  Looks like Alyssa and I were right about the films (with the exception of 21), just not the order.

I thought three comedies that appeal to similar demos would split the pot and that would allow Forbidden Kingdom to sneak back to top.

So what did you actually end up seeing this week?

Nothing yet, although I had a similar thought when putting my list together.  Keep in mind that the estimates for the whole weekend aren’t all in yet.  I was just looking at the box-office take for Friday in an attempt to figure out which film would be number first.

And while I didn’t see any of the films to come out this weekend, I did watch a screening of Anthony Hopkin’s Slipstream with the guys from Cinema Diabolica last night.  The theater handed out free beer, which was nice, because I can’t imagine what the experience might have been like had I been under the legal limit.

So how was Fango Con? Did anyone humiliate themselves?

The trailer and the marketing for the film really didn’t do it justice in my opinion. The movie was really funny (ex: “I feel like I’m shitting a knife! “) and both chicks were hilarious Especially AP much to my surprise. She’s been bugging me lately, but this was a redeemer. So yeah, I liked it.

It was fun.  I had to work throughout most of the weekend, so I didn’t see the guys until midnight(ish) on Saturday when we met up for a double feature at The Silent Movie Theater.

F13 looks exactly like I thought he would, only slightly shorter.  And DZ looks a tiny bit like T-Van, only slightly taller.  In both cases, it was weird to hear their voices coming out of their faces.  I guess I’ll say more about it on the show.

We haven’t recorded yet and I’m inundated with work, so it may take a couple of extra days to get the thing done.

DZ wears a gas mask too?  Or he looks like the man behind the mask?  I seem to recall F13 claiming DZ is a giant of a man.  I’m not super tall but I’m not super short (I’m 6’0) but I’m hung like a horse.  Maybe more like a pony.  I don’t know.

I’m not one of those girls that does weird stuff in bed because they think they have to. If you’re a gay guy looking for a beard, I don’t do that anymore.
