Good to know! I’m the designated drinker for the family. And Deeps is the designated driver.

In other news, I think we might have to do a special food-themed episode because at our house we also have a deep and abiding love of the weird Food Network extreme competitions where chefs make like the world’s most elaborate birthday cake or whatever. In HD!

I heard about y’all on a bunch of other ‘casts I subscribe to, and checked you out. Fun show, but I dont watch anything you guys do, except for how i met your mother! So although it’s not really possible to follow all the stuff you watch, Id be happy to listen if you throw in some vintage shows that I have watched. You guys are Buffy fans right? Hell. Ill even take Charles in charge episode. -Joe

Aw - that happens. We try to mix it up from week to week. What do you watch? We watch more stuff than we talk about for a) time and b) content. Some stuff we watch doesn’t lend itself to discussion in quite the same way.

We’ve got a special food episode coming up in the next week or two. And the Buffy series will probably kick off in June, after Sweeps!

I’ll have to burn a disc of your food show coverage for my mom. She watches food shows all the time. It’s like a soap operah disease or something.

Hmm… Mothers don’t tend to like me that much. Perhaps yours will be won over by Derek and Deeps’ hilarious food banter. Of the three of us, I’m the only one of us who actually cooks.

THE MOLE!
Oh god I feel like such an ass confessing my love for this show but I loved the first two seasons of The Mole. The celebrity mole was total shite and I don’t vouch for that at all but the regular show was awesome and is coming back after a four year hiatius on Monday June 2nd.

It’s not really a reality show it’s more of a game show and the rules are as follows..
* Ten players - all strangers. Nine contestants, and one “Mole” (whose identity is kept secret from all the other players and the viewing audience).
* The players participate in various tests (games, physical challenges, puzzles, etc.) to try to earn money to a cash pot, up to a maximum of $1,000,000. The mole’s duty is to sabotage the games, and prevent money from being added to the pot, while avoiding, or deflecting suspicion.
* Each episode, the players take a 20-question quiz about the identity of the mole. The player who answers the fewest questions correctly (or in case of a tie, finishes the test the slowest), is “executed” and must leave the game immediately.

I can’t wait for it and will be following it shamelessly.

The Mole was a nice change of pace and it’s too bad it wasn’t recognized for it’s social engineering genius when it first came out. I didn’t watch it rabidly the first go around, but if they’re bringing it back maybe the re-formulation will be worth a look.

I will confess that I didn’t watch the original Mole but I did watch Celebrity Mole which was totally captivating if bizarre. I just really enjoyed watching Corbin Bernsen go totally crazy trying to figure out who the mole was. That was quality television.

Perhaps I will revisit the regular Mole this summer....

So the first episode of The Mole aired - what did you think? I like that they’re trying to find “smart” reality TV people to show up… but still.

Maybe I only love the weird celebrity version. Or maybe I just love unhinged Corbin Bernsen.
