Just saw this… http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/tv_and_radio/article3885939.ece

Congratulations guys (and especially Big Willy for putting a journalist off of bugging Toronto anytime soon!).  For all the ignorance over content, this should help you pick up some more listeners.

thanks for the find man! I’m a celebrity! that review was as back handed a compliment as any reviewer is going to give, but it’s more exposure for the podcast which is a good thing.. How did you find that review anyways? ONE MORE THING: THE REVIEW IS SPOILERISH ABOUT THE MOVE “INSIDE”

It’s great the show is getting recognized but that review is way off in my opinion, makes it sound like an angry podcast, thats horseshit.....

Yeah - my bad for not pointing out the spoiler.

I saw it because I read The Times Online after I’ve read The Guardian newspaper (if the hangover is still kicking my brain in two on a Saturday or Sunday). If you haven’t seen it yet, http://timesonline.typepad.com/snakes_and_ladders/2008/05/following-last.html pretty much makes the case for sticking with podcasts and not TV if you live in the western world.  Helped sober me up.

one more thing in regards to this article. I’m going to go out on a limb and presume that C.D’s high ranking in the podcastalley films section gives the show a high enough profile that it will pull in casual fans who wouldn’t normally listen to the show on the merits of it’s high ranking. This article may very well have been an example of that; if the show had been ranked 279th in the film category, joe public(or your friendly neighborhood times online writer) may not give the show a chance. I’m gonna pimp the show on a few other forums I visit…

OTC - The Times would not be likely to recommend a couple of Troma fans to their readers, but I am pretty stunned they picked up on Cinema Diabolica.  Maybe a week of classic Kurosawa would get you guys in? You don’t do so badly for votes and listeners yourselves?

I love how the article may boost the listener figures for CD, but the writer didn’t really understand the show.

I can smell the vinegar in Chris Campling’s bag. I think he likes the sound of Willy’s voice and is afraid to admit it.

Alyssa, can you imagine how much I want to pick apart his article right now?

For the record, our names are not Lance nor Earl.

Meh - I wouldn’t sweat it, DZ.  Podcasts are still fringey enough that I can’t imagine that the review would drive anyone away. And as the reviewer pointed out you all have your own special charms that make the podcast very listenable… so you’re likely to draw in the curious.

Ultimately, there is no downside for you.

Aside from taking umbrage at being called a racist. And it hurts, but it happens. I wouldn’t hang with a racist and I certainly wouldn’t buy him garlic fries.  So if that counts for anything....

I’m not sweating it. In fact I appreciate the coverage. I skimmed some of his other writing and I’m reminded of pots and kettles, mostly having to do with color. I’m glad he called us nerds, despite how wrong that word is in regards to F13, because let’s face it-- nerds rule the planet.

I regret getting onion rings. Those garlic fries looked so good.

Guys this is amazing, if we got this kind of review I would be exstatic!!! I don’t get the racist thing or really the nerd thing. I mean you guys look like the Varsity football quarterback and prom king in comparison to the snort snort we spew. Um, Transformers convention? Hello!!!? So, you take this review and revel in it. It is a big exposure and the most disparaging things he said weren’t true. Did he listen to the ONE review that you had from a listener about Sho’gun? Crrrrap! Not racist, not normal! Keep rocking, you are amazing and you’re kicking ass!!!
