As a fan of the original (which means I have watched it more times than is probably healthy) I’m not too happy about this. The original was not only an amazing film, but had a proper horror ending and one that means there can be no continuation with those characters!

Or at least that’s how I feel, aparantly hollywood dosen’t! Check out the link below for a confusing synopsis (and spoilers for the original).

P.S. Has anyone seen the new Dark Knight trailer?! I just watched it and I’m so excited!!! I know it’s unrelated, but that’s how excited I am!

I read that piece of ‘news’ too, got angry for a bit and then ignored it.  Glad to see they seem to be ignoring the ending of the first one completely (the proper ending not the US one).  I too love The Descent and have no intention of watching the sequel.

And re The Dark night, there is a word that can describe the feelings brought about by the trailer and that word is ‘turgid’.

There’s no way I’m going to see it.

This screams of a “cash-in”, but Neil Marshall is somehow involved so it might not suck.  The original is my favorite horror film of the last 5 years.  I hope its good and I will see it, but I’m not holding my breath.

I dont know how much Neil Marshall is truly involved.  My guess is he will get a producer credit and collect a check.  I wont be seeing this.

Maybe “Juno” in only coming back to do more of those high-leg yoga stretches.  Ninety minutes of that wouldn’t be so bad.

The suckiest thing I heard about the sequel is that the two leads (the Scottish main chick and Juno) are attached to return, which means the UK ending to the original will now make no sense whatsoever…

I could be wrong, but I think I read that Marshall was involved in the scriptwriting or has script approval and will be producing.  As to what extent his involvement will actually be during shooting, who knows....  I hope its good and not an all-out cash-in.  We’ll have to wait and see.

Sarah and Juno are both somehow back for the sequel.  Since that makes absolutely no sense, cash-in is the obvious assumption.

yeah i heard this as well, and i went wtf!  but i will still check it out, i am a sucker for any horror movie that isnt a crappy pg 13 remake.

Dear Lord I hope that never happens.

I’m glad to see that many others are thinking the same as me, but I suppose I shouldn’t be too quick to judge. Like Nate said we’ll have to wait and see. I wonder if it’ll come out in the UK first like the original.
