You guys definitely need to cover Hard Times, Bronson is the ultimate tough guy. How about Hard Times and The Mechanic as a two film show....that would be freakin’ awesome! You could also slip Red Sun in there, you can read my biography on Pop Syndicate to understand my love of that film. DZ ,good pick up on the Walter Hill wanting to direct westerns. Hill doesnt do many interviews but the little I have read about him he LOVES westerns and it is very obvious if you look at his resume. F13 is right, here in the south it has been said several times in my lifetime, “Mopar or No Car”.....I am not a huge car enthusiast but it is in the blood of us Southern folk.....not a Nascar guy so please dont pigeonhole me fellas. The Driver is an underappreciated American classic.....thats my feeling on the film in a nutshell. Vanishing Point, while not as good story wise as The Driver, is also a masterpiece of redneck hot rod films. I was glad to hear your guys take on it. Great freakin’ show as usual....

Nascar? ugh me either but I love Mopar muscle. There are few things as inherently American as Muscle cars and I just love em.

This is true Sir, there is something about the sound of a Mopar with glasspacks or straight pipes firing up and rattling the windows of your house.....music to my ears and oddly where I live every weekend there is a muscle car show somewhere....and there are Mopars aplenty....seriously consider the Bronson show as I am a huge fan of the old tough guy movies from the 70’s.....they just made those types of films better then, today’s cinema tough guys are chumps....they just dont have the charisma that Bronson, Eastwood, Reynolds or Marvin. Some call it one dimensional acting but I think Steve McQueen proved that minimal is the best acting for tough guy films.

Wouldnt you guys also agree that Walter Hill is one of the few directors who managed to basically keep making exploitation films in Hollywood after the 70’s heyday?

One last thing for the record, I am more of a GM enthusiast, favorite automobile of all time is the 66 Chevy Chevelle, beautiful car. But I do love those early Dodge Challenger’s and Plymouth Barracuda’s quite a bit. I drive a Ford F-150 to and from work, but I got a deal that was a steal on it, not a Ford guy but its been great and very reliable. Just bought a Nissan Pathfinder for my wife that is very sweet......later.

Great show! As always.

I was lucky to see both Vanishing Point and The Driver in a theater.  They really are big screen movies.  I liked both movies. But Vanishing Point more.

Did you know that Guns N Roses uses samples from Vanishing Point in their song Civil War?

And the band Primal Scream wrote a song about the movie (called Vanishing Point-clever title).

I am very jealous of anybody that has seen these two American classics on the big screen.....oh the envy is eating me alive....I did not know that GNR uses a sample in that song....I only picked up the Cool Hand Luke sample....its on my iPod guess I’ll dial that one up right now.....

congrats on the write up.  The writer has no idea what he’s talking about but it’s always an honor to be mentioned somewhere.  When PE got mentioned in Rue Morgue, it was a huge boost to the ole ego.

What magazine are you guys writing in again?
