If you haven’t seen the new Hellboy cartoon, go get it!  It’s so good.  Also, loved Crank and Saw III was a bit long but the ending was excellent.  I don’t know how they’re going to do a Saw IV.  Looking forward to The Departed and Science of Sleep this weekend!

Only one of those I saw was Hellboy: Sword of Storms and I have to agree. It was really good.

Watched The Departed and loved it.  So good and the DVD is amazing.  Half way through Flags of Our Fathers.  So far, I really like it.  I hear the last half isn’t as good.

Here’s what I’ve seen recently:

The Black Dahlia--not awful, but could have used a better editor.  Movie could easily have been 30 minutes shorter.  Josh Hartnett could use more film, less noir.

The Wicker Man--Nicholas Cage turns in a good performance, but, with her wooden acting, I actually thought Leelee Sobieski was the wicker man until the end.  Still, plenty creepy like the original.

Little Miss Sunshine--great, if not necessarily Oscar-worthy, little movie.  Steve Correll and Alan Arkin steal the show.

So do you ever watch Science of Sleep?

BTW...The Prestige is very very good, watched it again last night on DVD.

Yeah, I saw Science of Sleep about a week ago.  It was good but I didn’t love it.  I would recommend it people that really arty stuff.

I seen the Departed a couple of weeks ago and was floored. Loved the movie. I watched Saw III finally and didn’t mind it. Better out of the series in my opinion. (Death scene wise).

I just remembered what I watched recently for the first time, Aftermath. I didn’t think that it lived up to the hype. It was a nice looking film, but it wasn’t as hardcore as everyone made it out to be, or at least what I had it built up to be in my mind. Still good though.

That’s the only film I’ve ever shown to someone that’s made them puke.  My friend Katie lost it when the coroner stabbed the corpse in the puss.

For my money, one of the most smurfin up films of all time (and one of the most criminally under-seen) would have to be “In My Skin.” It’s a French film about self-mutilation and it was almost too much to handle in the theater.

Aside from that, just got Bad Lieutenant, Cockfighter, Grosse Pointe Blank, Walker and Them in.

BL: One of my favorite Abel Ferrara films.  Keitel is at his best.

Cockfighter: Warren Oates plays a mute, formerly shamed cockfighter who can’t catch a break for long enough to regain his former glory.  An awesome little slice of trash from Monte Hellman.

GPB: Fun.  Hadn’t seen it until now and I liked it a whole bunch.  Oddly enough, Walker also has a score by Joe Strummer (as does another Alex Cox film I’m watching right now called, “Straight to Hell").  Dan Akroyd is about as great as he’s ever been in this film, which only makes me sadder that he doesn’t try this hard every time.

Walker: Haven’t finished it yet.  Story of an American general who travels to Nicaragua to pacify the natives and eventually take over the country in order to secure a trade route.  Excellent performance by Ed Harris (what I’ve seen of it anyway).

Them (Ils): A creepy little French horror flick about a couple fighting off a siege from a group of random strangers in the middle of the night.  Quick, simple and effectively executed.  The motivation for the antagonists was brilliantly simple and creeped me out thoroughly.

AND! I’m getting Ms. 45 tomorrow.  Can’t wait.

Crank was alright, got it in the $5 section of Best Buy shortly after it came out on DVD, I saw saw Saw lll the other night, it was kind of boring, still had the “twisted” quality though, I’ll give it that.

I’m watching Amature Pornstar Killer 2 and I’m not too impressed.  Sure it cost all of $20 to make so I didn’t have high quality expectations.  It’s the randomness of the story that’s bothering me.  And the really crappy music.
