Last night, after returning home from a long night at work, I decided to watch Untraceable, the Diane Lane flick. I’ve always kind of had a crush on Diane Lane since I was younger, probably from Cherry in The Outsiders, anywho, they should have called this film Unwatchable....one of the worst films I have seen in recent memory....Oh Diane you let me down......I wasnt expecting a great film just an entertaining yarn. BOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG Hollywood attempt at torture porn. Avoid if any of you have an inclination to watch.

Big day of movie watching.

After hearing so much about Vanishing Point, finally watched it.  It’s a very middle of the road movie.  Good at best.

French Connection isn’t as good as I remember it being.  There are some good moments but there really isn’t much to the story.

Daredevil is mindless fun.  If you have to watch it, make it the director’s cut.

Ocean’s 11 remake holds up surprisingly well.

Watched the theatrical release of Grindhouse and it’s even better now.  As much as I hated Death Proof in theatres, I really enjoyed it this time around.

Watched Django today.  I have to say that if I just saw this and didn’t know anything about it, I would find it as an ok film but nothing great.  Like most cult films, it’s been placed on a higher pedal stool than it belongs.  As a cult film, it’s still not that great.  It’s enjoyable but there are much better spaghetti westerns out there.

saw quite a few recently.
frontiere(s)-this movie was brutal and unflicnhing with nary a sense of humor and i loved it, I didnt think a film could top inside for me so quickly but this one did.  It was so damn brutal and the gore was copious.
the cottage-Great dark horror comedy that has the feel of an edgar wright movie, andy serkis and jennifer ellison were great in theis film and you never knew where it was headed.
them-tight little film, and I was gripping my armchair the entire time, I hope the strangers is as good as this one.
irreversible-heard alot about this one so thought i would check it out, and it left me cold, it seemed shock for shocks sake and there was no point to the over all story.
in my skin-a really disturbing french film, which is basically a commentary on womens obsession with body self image.
trouble every day- very weird canibal sex film with vincent gallo and beatrice dalle, and dalle was magnetic and definitely the best part of the film.

I think the point of Irreversible is mankind’s inhumanity to man and it shows the short fuse we could all have when it comes to getting revenge for someone you desperately love. I cant honestly sit here and say that if that happened to my wife that I wouldnt want to bash someone’s head in with a fire extinguisher....it shows that we are capable of so much that we dont even speak about.......brillant film.....it is a harsh film however.......not for everyone.

Layer Cake is still an awesome movie.  So freakin good.

Sleeping Dogs Lie aka. Stay.  Um...the best thing about it is the premise.  Bobcat Goldthwaite directs his second movie about a woman that blew a dog when she was 18 and when her boyfriend asks her to marry her she feels compelled to tell him what happened.  It’s really all over the place like Bobcat had this really shocking idea but didn’t know how to put a story around it.  It’s very contrived and has only moments of humor.  It’s on ok rental but that’s about it.

Just saw a bunch of new ones.
a night to remember- the best version of the Titanic disaster, great production values and doesn;t rely on cheap soap opera to pull you into the story.
witchblade volume 5- this is one of my favorite animes and the story gets better withe ach disc, shame it ends with the next one, but the story keeps getting deeepr, not a lot of action in this one, its more interested in progressing the story than having big battles.
sorority ssister slaughter-I rented this just for the title, it was bad though, It was like they ripped off night of the demons and hello mary lou prom night 2, but they dont add anything new.
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde-This was one I had been waiting to see for awhile and it finally hit dvd this week.  Starring Tony Todd as jekyll and Hyde and directed by John Carl Buechler.  Todd was great as the 2 sides of the same coin.  It also has a great list of b actors in it, Tim Thomerson, Peter Jason, Deborah Shelton and the indomitable Vernon wells, who plays a good guy for once.

I’m currently viewing For Your Height Only, the filipino secret agent midget movie on my ipod and it’s hilarious! Some of the dialogue is incredible. Just witnessed the sex scene and bust a gut:

“Shall we get it on?”
“Yes darling, bear your bod”

“Sex is like tequila, one sip and you’re a gonner” ???

“You’re petite, like a potato” ???

Wow!!

I hope it gets reviewed on the podcast some day.

I think it’s on a double bill dvd with challenge of the tiger.

witchblade anime disc 6-this was the final episodes of the series, and it was quite good and had a real bleak ending.
timber falls- this was a damn good film, it was Wrong Turn but pulled off so much better.  I loved the villains too especially Ida, she was fully rounded and you actually felt sympathy for her.
Tale of Two Sisters-rented this on a friends recommendation, and was a good freaky film, with a feel of the Sixth Sense but executed somuch better.

They Wait.  Interesting Asian ghost story.  Not the long hair creepy kid type.  It’s more like an Asian Sixth Sense.  Hell the kid even looks like a Japanese version of the kid from the movie.

I Spit on Your Grave.  After watching the angry turd that is Gutterballs, I wanted to see a good revenge film.

Waz.  Great cast but a middle of the road film.

For Your Height Only was an awesome flick.  The dubbing is obviously there to poke fun at it, ala Mad Movies.  If that doesn’t quench your Weng Weng thirst, and I don’t know how it can, there is another of his movies called the Impossible Kid on the martial arts 50 pack from Mill Creek Entertainment.  Not nearly as good, mainly due to a more straight forward dubbing, but you get another dose of the Weng Weng so how can you go wrong.

Last night I watched the 1973 Amicus flick “From Beyond The Grave”. Despite having a phenomenal cast (Peter Cushing, David Warner, Donald Pleasence, Ian Ogilvy), it was pretty poorly written, even for an Amicus anthology picture.

There were, however, a couple of “so-bad-it’s-good” segments that might make for a good time in a party environment.
