Been Listening to show for a long time now and loving it. In fact I’ve got this show along with a few choice others burned on CD which are played continuously as my traveling soundtrack. The others, B-Movie Bastards, B-Movie Cast and the now defunct Your Video Store Shelf. Although I enjoy horror, I am drawn much more to the cheesy B and below flicks of now and yesteryear. To give you an idea of where my mind is at, Arch Hall Jr. and Ray Dennis Steckler are a couple of my personal favorites. Obviously at the low end of the entertainment spectrum but that is one of the reasons I enjoy Cinema Diabolica so much. Although they hit the horror genre, the cover a much wider range of movies. Even if your not interested in the movies that they cover, or movies in general for that matter, You’re guaranteed to always be entertained. So I’ll be listening for as long as they are talking.
Hi Guys. I’m a Cinema Diabolica newb. I had been on a search for a good horror/genre-themed podcast for a while, but never came across one worth following until now. I’m still slowly going through your back catalog of episodes, but I’ve been enjoying what I’m hearing. Nothing quite like spending the work day listening to DZ and F13 rave and rant about my favorite movies.
Yo, My name is TheHet and I live in PA. My 3 favorite movies of all time are Caddyshack, Animal House, and This is Spinal Tap. I know that these are comidies. My favorite band of all time is the Replacements. I work long boring hours at a steel mill and listen to podcasts all the time. I like outside the cinema,NOTLP,splattercast, and horretc. Cinema Diaboolica is the best.
Hey guys, I’m American, but I live in Japan. Osaka specifically. Ive been listening to the podcast for a few months, and I love it. I’m a big horror fan, as well as exploitation cinema in general. English movies aren’t too hard to get over here, so I can still indulge. I recently saw Machine girl, an awsomely strange Japanese movie. It’s got a mind-boggling amount of gore, a machine-gun hand and even a flying guillotine! see it if you can.
Wotcha fellow dweebs! I’m into classic Argento, Giallo obviously, Takashi Miike, bit of Shaw bros., anything Samurai- classic or schlock, Ilsa!, EXCALIBUR(my personal favourite movie of all time), some Thai, anyone seen ‘I bought a vampire motorcycle’?? It’s got retro-value! The odd cannibal movie lights my fire but zombies leave me cold for some strange reason, too slow too dull (and don’t go the reanimator/28 days later/etc line, which were grudgingly an improvement). Romero, Shmomero. Sorry. Fulci, Schmulci.
Looking at the above, I think I just like style over most other things. I’ll palate most things if it’s shot well! (or really awfully and hence adding to the movie!).
Thanks to F13 and DZ for giving a well rounded podcast, and some killer recommendations!
Anyone checked out sukiyaki western django yet? And whats with this ‘Tears of the Black Tiger’? Any good. Looks SSTYlish!
this is Switzerland calling. “Discovered” the podcast a week ago and have already listened to the whole back catalog. Loving the show.
I love movies in general. Mainstream to experimental. Romance to slasher. Depends on the mood I’m in. Growing up in Switzerland I naturally had easy access to all the German, French and Italian gems of “cinema diabolica”.
Oh - and I was introduced to Edwige Fenech in the tender age of 11 when I saw the Italian sex comedy “40 gradi all’ombra del lenzuolo”. Movies like that have been shown in open-air theaters in the middle of Italian towns - and everybody of every age was gathered together and cheering at the screen. Great times.
My names Satinder and I’m from England, a friend of mine told me about this pod cast a couple of months ago and I’ve been trying to get through all the back episodes to get up to date, which I did today, so I thought I’d post on the board.
It was so good to see a really old favourite of mine on the last pod cast, the golden voyage of Sinbad. I grew up on those films, well according to my mom been watched Jason and the Argonauts since I was 3. it’s the main reason I got into monster and horror movies, also this career I have of special effects artist. I did get to meet Ray Harryhausen, at a book signing not too long ago, I told him he’s the reason I do what I do, he replied ‘I couldn’t possibly pronounce your name’ ..
Talking of guilty pleasures, I have to say one of my biggest cheese flick that I love is Anthrophagus but listening to the review on the show I realised I do love it for the gore and George Eastman. Its like having a fat ugly girlfriend who you don’t want to introduce to your friends cus she’s embarrassing but you secretly love her cus she gives good head..
I’m Mo. And I have thoughts and opinions on stuff! And things! And its high time to share them on the interwebs!
Um I’m a big comic book dork, I’m obsessed with British television and obviously love movies but don’t get to watch as many as I would like. Uh favorite horror movie would probably be one of the classic stand-bys like Psycho or Night of the Living Dead. And maybe something with Jeffery Combs.
I am thrilled to get my e-mail read on the last show. I am the doctor in DFW. I have been called a Pussy now by F-13 for being reluctant to come out of the closet and join the legion so I guess I better come forward. I don’t have the background in para-cinema that many of you sick smurfin have but I am quickly becoming corrupted. As many physicians are, I am extremely obsessive-compulsive as well so I am really diving in head first.
Hi. Doug in Peterborough, Ontario. Your show makes those long walks to work in the morning fairly tolerable, and i’ve been an attentive listener for a few months now. It’s been great stuff all around, particularly the semi-recent SPOOKY! episode covering Inglorious Bastards and The Sentinel. I’m currently working my way through Fred (THE HAMMER) Williamson’s epic (*sigh*) BLACK COBRA quadrilogy at my review blog, and it helps to know that there were times when Italian rip-offs of American action movies starring Fred Williamson were not quite so.. stinky.
Keep it up. Love to see you guys tackle a slew of.. CANADIAN exploitation (aka Canuxploitation) at some point.
sh*t Manos, I grew up in Port Hope dude, very close to Peterborough.. Welcome aboard man, it’s always good to have another beer swilling, hockey loving, bacon eating Canuck in the ranks… Oh and by the way, I checked out your blog, it’s good stuff.. I’m a big fan of the Hammer and enjoy the Black Cobra series as much as anyone should..
