You may have heard a lot about Troll 2 from the likes of ShowShow, Night of the Living Podcast, Outside the Cinema and Cinema Diabolica. And you may have heard about Manos from….well, How I Met Your Mother.

But now, you will finally get the definitive answer on which movie is more terrible from the Onion AV Club.

It seemed like such a good idea, that we figured Big Red Podcast could pile on as well. Because, we totally lost a bet. Look for it on July 6.

You are right! I’d forgotten about Ryan’s intense of love being factually wrong and Troll 2. Sometimes when it is early in the morning, I’m not bringing my A game. Duly noted.

Sunday afternoon Derek and I are drinking martinis and watching Manos. Well, I might drink whiskey instead. But after the abomination of Troll 2, we’ve learned that to stomach a truly atrocious film some adult beverage is required.

Just finished my very first BRP! I likey. I never thought I’d be interested in a show like The Middleman, but after such an enthusiastic review I might have to update my Tivo lineup.

Oh Katie, it is incredibly enjoyable. I have three words to help describe this week’s episode - Luchadores and Mark Dacascos.

I’m very pleased you listened to BRP and liked it. Who knew?

I’d like my BRP Booster Club fun pack now.

Also, I’m sending you an MP3 with some thoughts on Troll 2 that we all recorded for the show.  It’s a little long, and a lottle disjointed, but it was the best we could do under such drunken circumstances.

We’ve been holding off on making one since we only had one fan. I look forward to the audio tidbit. We traffic in rambling and incoherent - you’ve been listening to the show, right?

Oh man!  Just listened to the show.  Dead and Buried! Streets of Fire!  Monster Squad!  Bugsy Malone!  Deeps mentioning Prime Cut!  Despite your lack of love for Troll 2, you brought up a lot of awesome movies this week.

Delightful folks, delightful!
Some favorite quips: “A horrible St. Patrick’s Day failure,”  “Sap is not green,” “Troll 2 is a lot like The Happening” and finally, “You cannot put lipstick on this pig.”
Oh and P.S. Johnny Dangerously was definitely not a local thing. That movie is still on Comedy Central like every other Saturday at 1 pm.

I’m glad you enjoyed our folksy, down-home charms.

I talk about putting lipstick on pigs all the time.

I hope we can still be friends. If nothing else, I let you goobers sing on the podcast.

I know.  That singing lasted forever, didn’t it?  Anyway, don’t watch it again on our account, but I honestly do think that it’s a film of subtle humor (even if I laughed as I said that on the show).  Aside from all of the obviously weird stuff (like the popcorn scene) there are fantastic reaction shots and moments of ill conceived timing scattered throughout the film that don’t reveal themselves on the first viewing.

By the way, the script for the film was written by an Italian guy, rudimentary transcribed in English and then handed to people who had never acted before in their lives (including George, who plays the dad and had been an orthodontist at the time).  Michael (Joshua from the film) was telling me that the director barely spoke any English and that the excitement of making an honest to goodness movie outweighed any sense of confusion that anyone felt on the set.  So yeah, this thing was done in earnest for the most part, which is what makes it all the more endearing to me.  Someone actually thought that a bunch of vegetarian goblins in potato sack costumes would work on some level.

Anyway, another great show.
