Sinking feeling when your computer can’t recognize its hard drive

So this afternoon, my laptop wouldn’t recognize that a hard drive was actually installed in the machine.  No matter what I did, my trusty little Power Book just couldn’t see that it had a drive in it.

After letting it rest a bit and plugging in the external drive, I was able to get it up and running and hopefully Apple’s Disk Utility worked its magic and took care of my problems.

The weird thing while I was trying to figure out how much blood I’d have to sell to get a new hard drive if necessary was all I could think about were podcasts.  How would I do my own and how would I download all of the ones I listen to.

Sad but true.

That’s a funny but sad story.  Glad to hear that your hard drive didn’t die.

I think Chris might know a Mac Genius that could help you.

At the next time of trouble, I’m off to the Mac bar.  I joined another podcast to record over Skype last night with no problems.  Fingers crossed that it was just a hiccup.

Of course, I was already pricing larger hard drives before it started working again.  For a brief while, all my storage needs were going to be met by a nice 120GB internal laptop drive.  Guess I’m stuck with my bursting 80gb for now.
