The sound was fine Scott, just very low volume. In fact, I thought something was wrong with the sound on the computer this morning, and it was only when I turned the volume up to about 3/4’s that I breathed a sigh of relief. Same for the car. There is a little artifacting, but it certainly is not a problem. Not bad for an eight year old computer! Hope the fix on the G4 is minor and inexpensive.

I’ll listen again in a while, as I always do, just in case I missed any good recommendations.

Regarding Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, Leiber wrote their adventures over a span of 50 years and while the older stories are great (it seems he wrote approximately one per year), they get even better when Leiber kicked it into high gear in 1970 with “Ill Met in Lankmar.” I’ve loved the adaptations since DC tackled them back in the early to mid 70’s (I think it was Alan Weiss?) and the later Mignola stories as well, but even with these great artists, the experience pales to reading one of the actual stories! Leiber is a wordsmith and tells very magical stories about the unusual pair, the big barbarian Fafhrd, and the cunning Mouser.

So what I’m saying is, seek out some of the book collections (the latest have Mignola covers if I recall) and read the stories, you will not regret it!

For what its worth, I’ve always pronounced Fafhrd as “Fawfurd.” That doesn’t make it right though!
