It’s that season again; time to break out the scary flicks.

For my money, The Shining is the best horror movie of all time, although there are several other noteworthy flicks.

The Shining is probably my favorite.  Always creepy and it holds up very well.

Even before seeing the replies here, I was going to chime in with The Shining as well.  That movie scared the hell out of me the first time I saw it on a night my parents trusted me alone in the house.  Just me, a darkened house and cable television.

It still creeps me out whenever I find it on TV.

Talk about a descent into madness.  It’s a great character study by Jack Nicholson.

I’ve always liked Halloween, Poltergeist, and Night of the Living Dead.

Always hated Rosemary’s Baby and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Showgirls. Truly frightening.

Scariest movie? I have to agree Shining was rough.
“Play with us, Danny” creepy…

and Poltergeist ranks right up there. Wonderful

The Haunting…the original black and white movie.

Just creepy. Watch it with a friend.

The original was great.  You’ll be hard pressed to find a sorrier flick than the remake, though.  I laughed out loud at the end.

The Shining still creeps me out, but more the novel. Really you even suggest something (like the black eyed children hoax that overran the internet a few years back) I’m too nervous to go out at night. As movies, Poltergeist I watch whenever its on (just finished in fact) because I have an abnormal crush on Zelda Rubenstein.

There isn’t really a movie that creeps me out. I guess context tends to frighten me more. I watch all of those crappy psuedo-psychic haunting programs, as if they’re going to get better. Ghost Hunters is the most impressive. I wanted to like the Grudge, because the imagery is good, but I haven’t gotten interested enough to see either the remakes or the originals.

I used to scream at the same two places EVERY TIME I would watch Poltergeist.  I also am a fan of Poltergeist 3, but not 2.  Blech.

The Nightmare on Elm Street series was my absolute favorite growing up, but I believe The Exorcist is the one that freaked me out the most.  The creep factor is still pretty high on that one for me!

I’m also a fan of the Jaws flickeroos.  :)

Poltergeist 3 wasn’t bad.  I would recommend it if you get a chance. Part 2 really sucked.

I really want to see Exorcist III again. Happily it’s on AMC Horrorfest week this week.  I’m going to have to record it.

Was Poltergeist 3 the one where they were in the high rise?  I hated that one.

Exorcist III was pretty good; Oscar-worthy compared to Exorcist II.  When that dude came after the nurse with the loppers, I nearly stained the couch.

I know this thread has not been posted in in a while, but I have to add my favorite horror film, and favorite film for that matter; HalloweeN. I smurfin love this movie. I am a huge zombie fan, but HalloweeN will always be the best film ever. I am going to post this knowing how much shit it may cause up for all the fanboys but…smurfin Rob Zombie and his re-imagining of Halloween! Yeah that’s right, I said it.
