I’ve been working my way through the old 1940s Batman movie serials, which I put on my Xmas Amazon wish list in an excess of enthusiasm over good sense. I can’t say I recommend them except as an appreciation of history and of kitsch.  The big enemy is a spy of Hirohito and very “yellow peril”-ly.  And it’s from way before the Batman was expected to have any muscle tone whatsoever; as silly as Adam West looked, this guy is way worse.

That being said, it has a certain amusement value.  If you want to rent a disk on Netflix, I’d say it’s worth that, at least.

I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to learn this was coming out on dvd.  I thought I was the only one who remembered the show.  I’m sure it’s going to be awful when I get to watch it again, but I’m psyched!

I got a couple episodes on a bootleg VHS tape at a convention 8 years ago, and like HTBC said about the Batman serial goes for this. Amusing…for the nostalgic aspect.
