What are you looking forward to seeing this summer?

So far everything has sucked.  I still have high hopes for Superman Returns and Pirates 2 but that’s about it.

I’ve heard good things about Cars but I’ll wait for DVD on that one.

Maybe on Nacho Libre and Strangers With Candy.

Pulse should be good but I’m not that excited about Clerks II.  I’ll have to wait and see what JEff thinks of it.

Now My Super Ex-Girlfriend looks very promising as does The Descent and Talladega Nights.

And of course closing out the summer is Snakes on a Plane!!!!

Nothing I’m really excited about seeing after Pirates 2 but some films I might check out.

DEFINITELY Nacho Libre AND Strangers with Candy! I’m Soooo excited about both of these films.

Others I’m interested in seeing:

An Inconvenient Truth - because of all the hype + I want to support films that show what “the man” is doing to our world.
A Scanner Darkly - Another film that shows what “the man” is doing to our world, more the government - but, I guess you could call the gov “the man” couldn’t you?
Down in the Valley - Ed Norton plays a great twisted bad guy.
A Prairie Home Companion - just because Kevin Kline is in it.
Water - looks VERY good.
Woodenhead - looks like it’s very disturbing but visually appealing - I want to see this one in the theater for sure. The trailer reminds me of Eraserhead.

That’s just a few. I hope I get to see some of these in the theater - I’ll FOR SURE see NL and SWC when they come out.

I’m starting to feel bad saying with this Spider Jerusalem avatar, but lately, I’ve really started to look forward to Superman. Let’s face it, X-Men 3 was a mess of a story. Singer made X-Men work and I’m really starting to look forward to what he brings to Superman. Maybe the promotional shots really WEREN’T IT. I mean Superman isn’t really stationary anyway. Ever, unless he’s with Lois.

It really is down to Routh with me. He’s my last real problem.

I don’t know, I think Superman Returns looks cool.  I have faith in Singer to pull it off.  I’m not drinking the kool-aid or anything, but I’m going into it with an open mind.

A Prarie Home Companion was great!  I thought X-3 was good.  I don’t care about Pirates, I’m looking forward to A Scanner Darkly.  I want to see Snakes on a Plane.  And as it gets closer I find myself getting a little more excited about Clerks 2 each day.  Summer hasn’t been great but I don’t think it’s been crap either.

Like Roner, A Prairie Home Companion is high on my list.  An Altman film with Paul Thomas Anderson helping out.  This I’ve got to see.

Superman Returns and Clerks 2 both feel a bit too nostalgic for me still.  I really want to see them but that’s more because of their past than the actual movies.  Pirates?  Should be fun.

I’m still trying to get excited by Cars because I love Pixar but it feels like too much of a niche film of a niche I don’t understand-- cars & racing.

Don’t worry about Cars being too niche—like anything Pixar, they really bring out the humanity in the situation. It’s a modest effort by Pixar standards, but a best in show by almost anyone else’s.

Am I the only one psyched about Miami Vice?
