Why don’t they just call it Ultimate Trek?

Ok, I’ll admit…I grew up watching ST:TOS (my mom was a sci fi buff…well, that and a shirtless william shatner) and I loved every minute of it. Out of the Trek properties, it’s still my favorite.  But I’m also a big Ben Weldon fan too…so, expand on this for me, please. I read the link you provided (redemmie, your link didn’t work for me) but didn’t read anything that really cheesed me off. I actually welcome the idea of a “reboot” to give the franchisea necessary kick in the pants. Although, I will say that I wish they’d go with unknown actors…I would sleep with Matt Damon, but I don’t really see him as Kirk.

My link was for a PDF written by J. Michael Straczynski & Bryce Zabel with their own thoughts about a reboot.

Star trek has gotten my interest in many years.  The only thing that got my attention was the thought of JMS being involved, but that’s because I’m a big Babylon 5 fan.

There really wasn’t much information about Abrams star trek.  So what is the controversy?

Hmmm… rereading my post I could have been clearer, my bad let me try again. In SFX 155 some guy calling himself “a true Trek fan” writes in and starts bitching about the new movie. Your basic “rapeing my childhood”, “I for one will never see this movie” BS. That type of thing really twists my nips so I respond with wit and charm, as is my way. I get a email the other day saying my response will be in the next issue(157). There is much rejoicing in stately Weldon manor as SFX is my favorite magazine and while I’ve been reading it for years this is the first time I have ever sent in a leter.

I love SFX, but haven’t picked up an issue in a couple of years, so it’s nice to have an excuse to pick up an issue.  SFX is where I got my Scottish pen pal years ago.

One of the last issues I picked up listed “the top 50 science fiction shows of all time”, and Doctor Who was in the #1 slot.  This is before the recent series.  I think they had to put something English in the top slot, or the Queen would have them assassinated.

I agree, unknowns would be better. But I think JJ Abrams is friends with Matt Damon so we should probably expect Damon in the roll since JJ Abrams likes to cast his friends. Greg Grunberg is probably going to have a roll too since he’s in just about every JJ Abrams project. Maybe they should just use Shatner. I hear they can do miracles with CGI these days.

We used to get SFX on this little almost island, but it seems to have disappeared when I went away. I think I might have been the only geek that read it.

I picked up my copy today. It’s the last one in the letters section. Man I got such a kick from seeing my name in a A magazine I love and have been geting for about 10 years.
