I will listen to certain critics, but the trick is finding one with similar tastes to mine so they’ll give a review I could potentially agree with and rely on.  Finding said sources are hard to come by, especially when one of them (*ahem, The Observer), who is typically hard to please, gave freaking 28 Weeks Later a raving review.  That, my friend, is Poppycock and Balderdash if I ever heard it.

...and if I relied on one of your particular site’s reviewers (*ahem, Kit Lively), I’d soon refuse to ever watch a movie again!  :D

But Mr. Lively provides thoughtful, insightful reviews on horror films.  He elevates the site to new levels.

Is he bribing you to say nice things again?

There is a great scene where Depp talks to himself. It’s funniest thing in the film.

Finally saw it yesterday, and you’re definitely right about that scene. Depp is just brilliant.

But it was still really freakin’ long!! I think they could have found at least 15 or 20 minutes they could have cut from it. Still, I definitely enjoyed the film, and I was surprised at all the damn plot twists! Definitely didn’t think it would end the way it did, but it was ultimately rather fitting. The battle in the Maelstrom was pretty intense.
