First and most importantly, thank you to Stefan for both accepting my column and the warm welcome. I hope to live up to the trust he’s putting in me as I am a bit out of practice with this sort of thing. Fortunately I am an attention whore so I anticipate it will come back to me pretty quickly.
For those unaware Stefan and I have a similar online origin. We worked together on a little website for a few years. Like all good things that had to come to an end so that new things could begin. For Stefan that was the grand endeavor Pop Syndicate. For me, well, that’s what I’ll be discussing with The Process.
The Process will document my upcoming project in a frank and possibly too honest manner. I will share things as I do them, the lessons learned, both good and bad, as well as the reasons for certain decisions I’ll be making along the way. Let’s just say it’s going to be like a “making of” documentary in real time. Yeah, hopefully despite that it’ll still be interesting.
I am a few weeks off from making any sort of official announcement regarding the actual project. I can only drop the hint that it will take all of my artistic effort (you’ll judge for yourself if it’s good) to bring to life. In the meantime I expect to have The Process up and running come January in advance of the big announcement/launch of this, as yet, unnamed project. In other words, I am going to be deprived of some sleep.
As for what we’ll discuss here on this forum? Well, that’s pretty much up to you. I’ve no rules but those established by the management here. We can discuss the column, the project or Wheaties vs. Frosted Corn Flakes. Your choice.
In advance, I will probably offend some of you. I’d apologize in advance for that but I’ve no idea how or why I did it yet. I’m not one to mince words or bow to something I don’t agree with simply because someone else may be put off by my words. All I ask is that you do as I am promising to right now: try to see the other person’s point of view and try to play nice. In the end it’s not politics, it’s comics. It’s not personal, it’s supposed to be fun. That’s how I’m going into this.
Again, huge thanks to Stefan and the gang for the warm welcome. And a bigger thanks to YOU for giving me a chance. Let’s get to know each other over 2008.
Best,
Alex
