F**k. Just… f**k.

The Orphanage was absolutely amazing.

Now, most movies don’t have any lasting effect on me, particularly horror movies, but The Orphanage genuinely scared me s**tless. It is, bar none, one of the creepiest, most lingering films I’ve ever seen. It had a huge effect on me - I can’t remember the last time a horror movie kept me up at night. I honestly don’t want to say anymore about it at the risk of spoiling a single thing, but I urge anybody who reads this to see The Orphanage in the theater, while you still can.

I just saw a preview for it and it looks really good. I hope a theater near me is showing it.

It deserves to be a #1 priority, theater-wise.

Weird.  Never heard of it.  I will keep an eye out for it, though.

And to think I was going to base my entire year’s worth of horror viewing on Black Devil Doll.  Hmm..maybe I should rethink that.  Orphanage it is then.  Either that or a sequel to Cemetery Man.

I’ve been excited about this since I saw the trailer and I can’t wait to see it. Doubtless it won’t be on at cinema near me because it only shows “main stream” movies!!

TonyHex - I love to be scared, but it dosen’t happen that often with horror movies these days, so that it scared you it bodes well.

So it’s a shame I have to wait until March to see it!! Damn it!! Why is the UK always behind!!!

It more than scared me. Maybe I’m just a sucker for deformed ghost children, but I was a quivering pile of jelly in my seat by the finale.

Dunno. I saw it tonight and I was underwhelmed. (Yeah, I heard a lot of hype)

But honestly, it didn’t scare me much and I thought the story was pretty thin. You think maybe there’s going to be some sort of reveal to a mystery that feels like it’s building, but guess what? Nope.

I’d say it was okay, but certainly not worth all the accolades it’s getting.

I loved this film.  I believe its the best horror I’ve seen in the last 3 - 4 years.  Very scary and intense, but I’m also a sucker for ghost stories.

Easily ranks among movies like Ringu, Poltergeist and the Changling.  The scene with the ‘seer’ is going to be classic.

I saw it the same night as Cloverfield and it was 10 times better.

I think Warthogs are Beautiful, but people think I’m ugly.  So I guess that makes me stupid.

I just watched it and enjoyed it. The thing that scares me the most are little kid ghosts and people with burlap sacks on their head, and this had both. Although I will agree with Kangas in I expected a big thing at the end and was pretty disappointed. However I did like the movie other than the ending.

Small ghost kids have always freaked me out, but I didn’t have a problem with the burlap sack on people’s head until I was like 10 years old. I happened upon a movie called Dark Night of the Scarecrow and then later on I watched some of the movie The Town that Dreaded Sundown. I have not seen either of these two movies since then, but one day I will.  The box to The Town that Dreaded Sundown has always given me the creeps me for some reason.

Perfect film to watch on Mother’s Day with your mom, huh?

Glad you did. I desperately want to re-watch it, but I lent it to my friend, which means I’ll probably never get it back.

Did Freddy or the rest of the crew get a chance to see it?

It was good, although I tend to agree with Kangas.

Almost immediately it starts dropping these little tidbits of character info and history.  I’m watching and thinking ‘Hey… this is gonna be something like The Changeling or Stir of Echoes’

Nope.  So don’t think that if you haven’t seen it.  Just take it as a straight up ghost story and you’ll be fine.

BTW… old lady versus garbage truck?  Nice.
