I was at an advance screening for Hostel2 last night (scoreboard) and Eli Roth was there and did a Q & A afterward (scoreboard scoreboard) and to my suprise he let us know that we were “the first people on earth to see this smurfin movie” (scoreboard scoreboard scoreboard)
So about the movie......
I thought it was better than Hostel but just like hostel the “homages” were flying fast and furious. The friend I went with and I were pointing them out through out the film and then lo and smurfin behold afterwards Eli spoke and mentioned in passing all the films that we had noticed pieces of in HOSTEL2.
It begins at the end of the first film with Jay Hernandez’ character on the train and wraps up that whole story and the crux of the rest of the film begins. It’s about three girls at an art school in europe who are on a train to prague and get sidetracked and end up in a certain youth hostel. The difference here is that we also get to see the other side of the transaction as they show the auctions and the bidders of Elite Hunting. This movie has less gore scenes than the first but the ones there are-are very dense with bloody goodness.
I have my thoughts about the collages that Eli Roth movies are but in the face of my snobbery I do reccomend everyone go see Hostel 2 when it hits theatres on June 8th. You will enjoy it.
Keep your eyes open for Cannibal Holocaust director, Ruggero Deodato in a scene that was truly awesome.
