We’ve had a bumper crop of sequels and it’s been a mixed bag.
Hostel 2 was more violent but kind of pointless.
Pirates 3 is 100 times better than part 2 but still didn’t need to be 3 hours long.
Die Hard 4 is a fitting return to the franchise.
Fantastic Four 2 is a painful waste of time. Please don’t let Tim Story return as director.
Harry Potter is a dull film that lacks any of the fun and excitement of the previous films.
Shrek 3 is doing well again as did Spider-Man. We can look to further adventures from both.
I wouldn’t plan on an Ocean’s 14 as no one is liking Ocean’s 13. I haven’t seen it but it doesn’t look good.
Finally, there is Evan Almighty. The most expensive comedy ever done…it’s not doing very well. It looks horrible.
Let’s see…
Hostel 2
I’m holding out for my favorite type of violence in God of War the Movie, thanks all the same.
(That way I can weep when Universal butchers the movie.)
Pirates of the Caribbean : At World’s End
I see you liked the movie, pity the game version was (again) only an average or so button masher not really worth getting too excited over… though the PSP did provide a playable Texas Hold Em’ sim that actually made me forget that I ever reviewed Stacked PSP.
Live Free or Die Hard
I’m surprised nobody dug into the so-so history of Die Hard video games for a few releases (or an attempt to re-release the old Die Hard Trilogy game with Live Free or Die Hard attached to it as a new fourth series of missions). Maybe somebody actually had a brain at the studio releasing this movie.
Fantastic Four : Rise of the Silver Surfer
I’m sure the game version sucked too. Play MARVEL Ultimate Alliance for a good game with the Fantastic Four in it.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Uh… yeah. The movies are becoming progressively darker, hence you should not find the whimsy you did in previous outings in future movie releases.
For the record. This movie marks the first time the makers of the films toyed with the idea of splitting a book into two movies (ala the Matrix movies), but (as you can see) it didn’t go through. I’m sure talk of that will happen again once Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince comes close to production. Oh. And I’m sure the game sucks.
Shrek has 2 movies coming (2010 and 2013) but Spider-Man…
Uh… whatever happened to that promise Sony made about the franchise ending at Spider-Man 3 again? Do we really want the Spider-Man franchise milked theatrically to death until they have truly beaten the movies to death and chased every last possible ticket buyer away?
Somebody tell me WHY the movies should continue. Why.
Ocean’s 14? Sure. Eventually all the stars, the production staff and film studio will need more money (forget the results of Ocean’s 13) and there you go.
After all… if there really was no money in this we wouldn’t be talking about an Ocean’s 14.
