It’s the worst pain you’ll ever feel and it never goes away. I am in constant agony every second of my life. Also, you have to remain completely stoic whilst being tattooed. If you so much as whimper or blink your eyes more than once every 30 seconds they’ll take you out back and beat you unmercifully with rubber hoses.
This is all true................................................................................well not really.
The pain of getting a tattoo is weird, it hurts while the needle is being used but once they stop doing the line the pain stops and most of the time they only work for 30secs to 1min at a time then need too stop and wipe away the excess ink. It is a weird pain to try and describe, the tattoo process is a needle sticking into your skin lots of times so you would think the pain would be agonizing but really it is not. I think the body releases endorphins to help cope with the pain which is why it is extremely important to have had a good feed and be well hydrated prior to getting one. I have seen people pass out while getting a tattoo and not cause of the pain but because they got really lightheaded due to the endorphins. I have had people describe the pain as being sunburnt and someone slapping your skin, others have said it like being scratched by a cat.
The worst parts for me were the elbow, the shoulder blade and the tricep. The first two was because of the bone and the tricep stung so on top of the pain from the needle I had this extra pain. After the tattoo was done my arm felt very warm and you need to clean the tattoo about 2hrs after getting it done with warm soapy water which can be a little tender, the worst part with something this big was the first night trying to sleep. I slept on my side so as not to put weight on my arm and every time I rolled over onto the tattoo I would wake up but after a few days it was less tender. After about a week the tattoo no longer hurts at all and as long as you care of the tattoo by keeping it clean and applying the right cream it will heal fine, apart from the pain the next worst part is how itchy the tattoo gets. You see as it heals it scabs over which sounds worse than it is and it can get very itchy and you cannot scratch the tattoo or you could effect the healing and ruin it.
As for how long this one took 4hrs and when I go t back it will be another 4hrs for the colour.
