Today was a busy day.  Watched Street Kings...sucks.  All the Boys Love Mandy Lane...not bad and the plot twist is pretty good.  Anamorph...worth a watch.  Not great but entertaining.  Ils...not as scary as I thought it would be.  Maybe the hype was too much.  It was ok but not great.  And Fan of the Dead...again, worth a once through but uber-geek Romero fans will love it.

just saw a few italian flicks.
keoma-great spaghetti western with franco nero, very operatic with some real bad ass scenes.
four of the apocalypse-fulci western with tomas milian playing a real scumbag and the film reminded me alot of the great silence.
conquest-fulci sword and sorcery film that was weird as hell, but fun, gotta love a gold face naked chick masturbating with a snake.

Rock on.  A great triple feature.

I bought the British Horror 4 pack from Shriek Show, which is really, and should be called--four flicks from Pete Walker, who absolutely rocks.

I’m watching the Flesh and Blood Show, and it’s a lot of fun.  It’s giallo-esque and trashy.  Copious nudity and ridiculousness.

Watched a bunch of junk:

Michelle Massimo Taranti’s Massacre in Dinosaur Valley w/ Michael Sopkiw.  My least favorite of the Sopkiw euroflicks.  This one is quite unfocused but has good bits here and there.  Sopkiw plays an adventurer who travels down to Brazil gets caught up w/the Professor, his beautiful daughter, cannibals, two models, an ex-vet, and some smuggler/pirates.  No Gilligan.

Pete Walker’s The Confessional w/Stephanie Beecham.  This one was a lot of fun.  It’s about a homicidal priest who obsesses over a young lady that wandered into his confessional one day.  Sheila Keith is stellar.

Rene Cardona Jr.’s The Bermuda Triangle:  Helluva cast:  John Huston, Hugo Stiglitz, Gloria Guida, Claudine Auger, to name a few.  They travel to the title locale in a yacht.  Freaky stuff happens, just unfortunately not enough.  This one was way boring.

John Wingate’s 80s SOV, Boardinghouse, from Code Red dvd.  Fun, for really nostalgia reasons.  The story is about Wingate, who inherits a house, which is haunted, and rents it out to hot ladies.  He just hangs out w/them.  The horror is minimal, the cheese is rampant.

Watched Igor Shavlak’s Trackman.  This recent Russian horror film is about a group of thieves who after a botched heist head underground, where they encounter the title character.  Similar to Ils in theme, as the story moves on present action, with v. little exposition.  Some cool visuals and good horror.  Late.

I just watched “The Beyond” and it was awful…

I had to write a post on my blog about it.

cuaght alot recently, let me tyr to catch up.
season of the witch- the last of romeros early films I hadnt seen, very cool film, had a slow deliberate pace but was never boring, it reminded me alot of martin.
demonia-this was a fun fulci film, love the requisite eye gouging scene.
house of clocks-another fulci film, very surreal film and i loved the banter between the two elderly leads.
blood car-this film was insaneely funny, had a very kevin smith vibe to the dialogue, i was rolling as i watched this movie.
delirious-this comedy about paparazzi with steve buscemi, good film.
macon county line-always wanted to see this film, and I was not disappointed, with a very dark ending i did not see coming.
senior skip day- a teen comedy in the vien of ferris bueller or van wilder, very funny and it had one of my favorite comics larry miller.
to become one-an utter piece of crap, this was a really badly done micro budget horror flick that had nothing going for it.

and now for what I have seen in theaters recently.
fool’s gold-this was a good popcorn flick, a treasure hunting film with matthew mconaughey and it also had donald sutherland and ray winstone.
jumper-this was a really good sf action flick until the end they left it way too open ended, as if they were expecting sequels.
iron man-damn was this movie awesome, definitely in the top tier of mravel moives, up there with x2 and spiderman 2.  There was nothing i didnt love about it and the cgi was flawless it didnt look like cgi.

Ok, I have to question everything you like from now on.  Fool’s Gold was horrible and not worth the film it was printed on.  Everyone that made film should feel ashamed.  Everyone that is related to someone that worked on Fool’s Gold should feel ashamed.

I’ve enjoyed most of his films but I really hated this movie.  If it hadn’t starred Hudson and McConaughey , it would have been a direct to video effort.

Hello people ! Some days ago, one of you spoke about “Fan of the Dead”, a documentary revealing the filming locations of the George Romero zombie trilogy. So, I bought the DVD. Very fun for zombie fans ! :-)
Here are photos.

Just finished The Orphanage on Blu Ray disc, transfer was amazing on the disc. Film was a very whimsical type horror film and you could feel Del Toro all over this one. I liked it quite a bit, I advise anyone that can afford to get a Blu Ray player or a PS3 to get one, the film transfers are amazing!!! If you have a high definition TV.............sweet.

Regarding The Orphanage; Saint Anthony was a monk who lived in a cave. He is also called Saint Anthony of the Caves. He was a significant figure during his time who lived pretty much in a cave he or someone else hand dug near the sea. A strange and esoteric reference in this fine film.

I just picked this up myself and have not had a chance to sit down and watch it yet. I have spent most of my time watch really bad Naziploitation films preping for something special for everyone.

this weekedn I saw thes films.
gamers- a mockumentary in the style of clerks about rpgers, really freakking funny, and it has kelly lebrock and beverly deangelo who still look fine.
meatbal machine-rented this one in anticipation of machine girl, and if its anything like this one i will love it.  defintely one of the best i have seen since battle royale.
shrooms-this film was great til th end, which would have been great if I hadnt already seen high tension do it better.
13:game of death-Dman this was a sdisitc and brutal film, a raw version of the game.  These Thai guys are making some of the best genre films out there now.

Naziploitation, cant wait, they just dont make bad films like they used too. I can’t say enough about the transfer of The Orphanage on Blu Ray, it was absolutely stunning. Not enough extras on the disc, some good making of material, but I would have loved a commentary track with Del Toro and the director. DZ had a very interesting post about this film.....thats what I like about that guy, he always adds value in little tidbits.
