I think Shyamalan’s great(wasn’t a fan of his Lady In Water, but I’m not 10 anymore either), so I’m looking forward to it.
His plots have a lot of holes in them(typically), but his directing is so good at getting me INVOLVED in the movie that I don’t think about them until the movie’s over.
Mr. Kangas, I will respectfully disagree. He gets in his own way! He’s clumsy! And I think his directing has become tedious. Where you think he engages, I would offer that he annoys to the point of badgering. His contempt for his audience and his critics is immense.
I cannot watch his films anymore - even stuff I was mildly ambivalent about in the past. He does serve as a powerful totem in Hollywood. It’s kind of like a freak show - come see the man who sabotages himself at ever turn!
But I have a colder, blacker heart than most.
