Just got done watching Demonic Toys. It was exactly what I wanted it to be (namely, awesome). Next up in my Full Moon run is Subspecies, then Trancers.
The Keep is a weird movie - the vampire movie without vampires. And then some kind of weird knightly battle. It’s too high concept for its own good. I always meant to track down the source material.
I guess my expectations were just way out of line. I’d heard about the vampire sub-plot (the film takes place in Transylvania BECAUSE of that and yet it’s dropped for the film) and the general idea of Nazis occupying a fortress meant to contain an eternal evil which got me excited about the film’s potential, only to find that Michael Mann was in his style-over-explaining-anything-to-anyone phase.
Oh well, I’m still glad I had a chance to see it. The gap was sort of nagging at me.
Just got done watching, among other things, Head of the Family, which may very well be the strangest movie I have ever seen. I’m still not quite sure if I liked it or not.

You mean the F Paul Wilson series of which The Keep is the first?
I’ve gathered that the book is way better than the movie, but that’s typical of translations. The hero in the series is an interesting conflicted character and in the final book Repairman Jack shows up. Wilson has made a pretty impressive Secret Histories series from which more films should be made.

Yeah, that’s the one. Apparently Wilson hates the movie too, which is completely understandable.
I’m watching a documentary right now called Billy The Kid. It’s pretty amazing, actually.
No, it’s about a kid with some form of learning disability living in a small town, taking karate, talking about horror movies and jamming out on his electric guitar to AC/DC and Kiss. It’s funny AND heartbreaking, like Steel Magnolias or something.
There are a bunch of scenes where the poor kid is trying to ask a girl out on a date. Those nearly made me cry.
Just got back from Coraline. I loved it. One of the darkest kids’ movies I’ve seen in a very long time.
I’ve heard it’s the darkest kids’ film since The Muppets Take Manhattan.
I’m seeing it on Tuesday at my trusty $3 theater. And I advise anyone that wants to see this thing in 3-D to do it sooner rather than later, as the Jonas Brothers 3-D concert film is going to bump this film out of the digitally projected/3-D theaters in the coming weeks (I wish I were joking, but I’m not).
The Room may be the strangest movie I have ever seen. Not too sure what else to say about it right now. The Wikipedia page on it is pretty entertaining, though.

Yay! I feel like this movie is a virus that we’ve helped to spread just a bit more. A bunch of people have said that they’ve ordered it or are in the process of acquiring it in the near future. I’m really happy that you watched it though, man.
Yeah, I’m glad I watched it too. It was funny and all, but the unintentional humor was slightly overshadowed by my genuine pity for Tommy Wiseau. I think what you said about The Room on ShowShow100 sounds about right, him covering up for his blunder of a movie by calling it a black comedy.
