Watching Aquarion, recently saw the new release of Boardinghouse on DVD.  Also watched Vexille and Black, White and Gray.  It’s a really good documentary especially if you’re interested in the 70’s/80’s art movement.

In the past week I’ve seen (in order of viewing with Amadeus being the most recent):

Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead - 4 Mooncups out of 5
Kids - 3 1/2 Mooncups out of 5
Little Children - 4 Mooncups out of 5
Glengarry Glen Ross - 4 Mooncups out of 5
Wristcutters - 4 Mooncups out of 5
The Orphanage - 4 Mooncups out of 5
Baby Mama - 3 1/2 Mooncups out of 5
I Heart Huckabees 3 1/2 Mooncups out of 5
Amadeus - 4 Mooncups out of 5

A good haul of some pretty solid movies, although none could fill more than 4 mooncups. Some were a surprise, I wasn’t expecting them to be as good as they were while others lived up to their reputation.

Watched the second disc of Dinner for Five in anticipation of Iron Man.  This was the first time I’d seen the show and I liked it a lot, even if David Cross repeats his stand-up material during dinner.

Also watched I Am Alan Partridge, starring Steve Coogan.  Simon Pegg has a cameo and that made me pretty happy.

By the way, this is the 400th post on the forums.  Hooray!

I just watched Bubba Ho-Tep (for the first time, of course). I absolutely loved it. Hell, I damn near cried at the end. Well, maybe not… but I definitely got pretty choked up, and that’s more than I can say for most movies I see.

I did cry at the end of that movie the first time I saw it. I’m not sure if it was seeing Bruce in a Elvis getup, the loss of an incredible mummy, or the touching friendship that JFK afforded, but I cried for sure. Ahem, not a lot or anything.

I also cried at the end of Grizzy Park last night——-‘cause it’s fecking A W F U L!

I’m not surprised. Oh well, at least it had a killer bear in it… that’s worth something, right?

It’s worth a lot for sure. However, when a chick gets her implant mauled and swatted out of her chest, a character says something ridiculous to the viewers at home and the racist character’s last name is White….it takes away from it a little bit. It’s bad.

Oh well… you take the good with the bad, I guess.

I also got a little misty in the theater - but I’m pretty sure that was from all the dust. Or something.

Pff.  Girls.  If ever we meet, Alyssa, you’ll be picking gum out of your hair for, like, the next bajllion years.

Oh, who am I kidding, I think I got a little choked up at the end too.  That might actually make for a good top five (Tearjerkers).

By the way, there’s going to have to be a delay on the interviews/show this week, as something major has come up and I must attend to it right away.

Dare to dream, Miles. And God help you if you ever try to touch my hair.

In other news, I deftly avoided Troll 2 again last night. I played Pub Trivia and lost out because I missed a question about DJ Danger Mouse. I hear the kids love him.

The artful Netflix dodge - am I the only one? Surely this phenomenon has been studied and written about? As soon as my movie arrives I’m deeply uninterested in actually seeing it?

I’m sort of thinking of saving it for the weekend when some members of my family come to visit, including my tween-age niece. Maybe she would like it…. ?

First off, Pub Trivia is fantastic.

Secondly off, I had the same thing happen to me this week with a Fulci movie I’d placed in the queue and been looking forward to seeing for about a month now.  It’s the one drawback to driving down to the store and grabbing something that you know you want to see and watching it a few minutes later, this Netflix thing is it is.

Third times off, yes, expose as many people (especially young ones) to the madness that is Troll 2.  I don’t know how squeamish your kin is, but just be warned that while not explicitly gory, the grue is weird (and poorly rendered).  I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about this one.  It might break your skull bone.

Saw SATC last night. I’m pretty sure everyone in the theater got their period at the same time (including these to thugs with bandanas on their heads. I’m still not sure why they were there.).
