Good show, as always.
I love that you guys covered We’re Going to Eat You as Zip (Canadian version of Netflix) just sent me that on monday.
Anyway, where you say that the film doesn’t have anything much going on below the surface, I would like to say that apparently it was Tsui Hark’s comment on the ruling society of Hong Kong. Because they were “eating the people alive”, etc. So there’s that.
Speaking about Tsui, the director, he has made some great films, but alot of bad ones too, being so prolific. I’ve seen a clip of Butterfly Murders, which looks awesome- it was basically a POV shot of the bad dude, and you hear his like evil breathing, then like crazy kung-fu attacks ensue.
For Don’t Play with Fire, more known as Dangerous Encounters: 1st Kind, this film is notorious for it’s uncut version being incredibly extreme. Unfortuanetly it was cut, and from what it seems like it’s nearly impossible to get the uncut version. That being said the cut version apparently is still pretty kick ass.
One film he made in 1995, that’s supposed to be amazing is Dao,  a remake of One Armed Swordsman, which is a brilliant film.
Maybe you guys should do a show on kung-fu with missing limbs, you could include Crippled Avengers as well.

Your Goonie love was surprising and welcomed. I remember that summer very vividly - doing handstands in the community pool and waiting to go to the mall to see it.

The Goonies segment should be played in Hot Topics in malls across America.  Sales will shoot through the roof!

I do love that movie though.  It sounds like your screening was very similar to the experience I get when I go to The New Beverly.

Also, WE DID A smurfin SHOW!  It’s all for you, Damien!

Amen.  Butterfly Muders and Don’t Play With Fire are completely and totally awesome.  I posted some thoughts about them in the Ep. 18 or Ep. 17 thread.  Considering that we are tecmo-bowl-logical down here in my neck of the woods, if CD needs a copy of either flick, I am more than happy to pop a copy in the mail to you guys.  Late.

Considering the track record of the adaptations of his work, I think Alan Moore’s justified in hating movies made from his books.  You could make an argument for V For Vendetta being all right, and maybe even From Hell (comparatively), but League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen was atrocious and Constantine was such a butchering of the character that you have to wonder what the point even was.  But I’m cautiously optimistic about Watchmen.  If nothing else, it’ll be interesting to see how this adaptation plays out.

Excellent show as always, gentlemen.  Now I feel kind of shitty for owning Don’t Torture A Duckling and never having watched it.

I’ve seen Don’t torture a duckling twice and you guys were much too kind.  That movie was to slow and dull and if you know anything about Fulci, you’ll know who the killer is right from the start.

Oh and Tsui Hark is the man.  His American work mostly sucks but his older films are the bomb.
